Those cool secret caves @comune_di_lusianaconco found while excavating a new redundant bike path are being covered and filled in without being explored... Nothing says "shortsighted" like haphazard economic development. This is a travesty, not only as a lost cultural resource of the areas history but also as a visual attraction. The tunnels on the other side of the mountain are a fantastic tourist draw for those wanting to see a bit of history from WW1, the newly discovered tunnels are being treated as an inconvenience and being hidden, probably to avoid any issues with the destruction of historical or cultural monuments. What a shame... just because the state is handing out free money doesn't mean it needs to be spent. I suppose none of the financial aspects are my business, but the destruction of culture and history is everyone's business. I appreciate the path ( even though via villa nova is runs parallel with no traffic), and I appreciate the new parking lot in Campana, but covering and sealing those tunnels is wrong. I get it, this is Italy, you have culture to spare, but need I remind you that is also Italy's prime domestic product...
