So when i was at the gym I had a bright idea lol
Back in February I took Eric to a jewelry store because I wanted charms for Valentine's Day (they weren't in at the time) so while we waited we looked at the rings 😉 well we found this beautiful ring. It had the marquise setting that I love and it came with the wedding band that would be connected to the ring afterwards and it had six little diamonds on the wedding band. And it was gold. Really really beautiful. It was also $2000+ so I made my peace with it and knew I wouldn't see it when I went back lol it really was a beautiful ring though. I still miss it lol But anyway my brilliant idea was less costly and more meaningful. So why do I like the marquise stone?? Because my mom has a marquise ring and I love it and it's familiar and it's just gorgeous. Well a few years ago my dad fucked up for Christmas and didn't get my mom anything...sad I know. Well after Christmas he took her to shop for something at the jewelry store. She ended up upgrading the diamond on her ring. Yeah she got a bigger diamond to replace the original one. So now she has her bigger diamond and the old diamond on a pendent that doesn't have a chain. Now here's where my amazing idea comes in lol we can set the old diamond on a new ring and that would be my engagement ring. It's exactly what I'm looking for. It now becomes an heirloom. And it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than $2000+ and we would just need to buy bands. I haven't asked my mom what she thinks about this idea and Eric is kinda like "but it's your moms" but honestly I think she'd like the idea because I'm her only daughter/child and it would be like passing down a tradition. Her first ring meant a lot to her because she waited like 20 years for her ring. They got married at 18 in Vegas. Didn't have money for a ring or a real wedding. Moved into their own home. Had me. And she went to school. Everything just came first and her ring wasn't more important than those things. So when she finally got it it was like this huge deal. I'm not 100% sure how she'll react but I have a feeling she'll be slightly happy if not thrilled about the whole thing. I've already told her that what I mainly want as my "inheritance" (I hate that discussion cause then I have to accept the fact that she won't be here forever 😢) but I want her ring. If nothing else then just her ring because I know how important it is to her and I plan on keeping it around for as long as I can. Now my question is...how much would setting a stone cost?
