Dado’s Memory Pillow ... Sometime I am entrusted with important sewing tasks ... such as taking the hem up an exquisite wedding dress, or altering the waist on a beautiful prom dress. I understand that handing over any item of clothing to a dress-maker for alteration requires trust and confidence, even more so when the clothing has special memories attached and belonged to someone who is greatly loved and missed. This week I was entrusted with the cardigan of a husband, father and grandfather and his memories have been loved and treasured by his family for many years. His much loved cardigan was often worn by him and features in photographs with not only his own children but also his grandchildren. His cardigan has been so very precious to the family and of course represents happy memories, sweet sentiment, big smiles and huge love. After a visit to The ThreadShed the cardigan has been transformed into 'Dado's Pillow' and instead of being tucked away in a drawer can be kept on the sofa to bring cuddles and comfort to his family at all times. Many thanks to his daughter Hannah for her trust in me and for understanding what a precious birthday gift it would be for her Mam.
