So, I’ve had two stories gifted to me in recent weeks - the second only yesterday after I begged, shamelessly, for it - and they’re both fantastic.

The first was started when I was feeling very, very low, and it picked me up like nothing else: Unsettled, by suitesamba. This is a wonderful little retirement!lock that has everything she knows I love; which is to say, jealous!John. Because I love me some green-eyed John, and it’s especially delicious here for reasons that would spoil the story if I were to go into them (Mary details below the cut). I love this especially for where John is in his life right now; I’m not as old as he’s supposed to be in this story, but I feel his feelings - that sense of being on the cusp of old age, and wanting a little more out of life before you give in to it. Plus, jealousy. Delicious, delicious, and ultimately not at all harmful jealousy. :D

The second is sexxica’s A Little Fantasy, which is a hot bite of daddy kink that, um, yeah. Just. Yes. To summarize, Sherlock has a fantasy he’s barely acknowledged out loud to anyone, and unbeknownst to him, John decides to play it out for him. And then, damn. >:D

Since I know some of you follow me as a Mary-friendly blog, I’ll mention that John’s (posthumous, after 20 years of marriage) relationship with Mary is described in ways that are congruent with how I see him at the beginning of TEH - kind of having to talk himself into the proposal, but perhaps something he wouldn’t have done had Sherlock been there. No bashing at all, but Sherlock is the love of John’s life in this story, which may not be to the taste of all.
