Sooo, since AO3 came back early, I wanted to share that I wrote a fanfic, and I actually finished the first draft and most of the second, and I really love the result, so I drew a poster.^ Please read it, if you like, I'm so proud of it, it's silly and it's about OCs, but I stand by it.
Plus that means you can read it fandom blind. Okay, technically it would be better if you had seen Star Trek Deep Space 9, s7e04, but I genuinely don't think that's necessary. Just, if you know what the general deal with the vulcans is, you are good to go. (All logic, no emotion, live long and prosper, shit like that.)
Quick summary: it's about a vulcan vs human cook off, between two rival cadets (a vulcan and a human—the two guys in the center of the poster. Cover? Illustration.). (They often challenge each other, and the vulcan always wins. They are canonically much stronger, but the human does better in school.)
(Yes, obviously captain Sisko and Solok get dragged in. By me.)
It's the length of a novel, ngl. It's a whole thing. They accidentally hire a professional event planner. There's auditions. Mishaps. A party. Klingon party-crashers. Pokemon mentions. A lot of made-up lore. Someone shoots a documentary. Not a single straight OC in sight. Tuvok and Miles O'Brien are judges. And more.
The only thing missing is Surak.
Is this crack treated seriously? I don't know. It's not, not to me, at least. But I'm not sure. It certainly isn't if I compare to some other wip in my backlog. But then I wonder, what if those are just crack? Do I treat it seriously? I think so. But how I would I write crack, then? I got a lot of thinking to do.
Anyway, here's the AO3 link: Starfleet Academy's Unofficial Cook-Off
