A positive (floral) trend
...visiting the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair this year, I was struck by how similar everything was - from stands to furniture news to stylings. However one, to me very positive trend, stood out - the incorporation of flowers and plants! From the giant sculptural flowers in Paola Navone's lobby design to the many bouquets, plant tables and flower installations of the halls.
The most amazing experience was the free, hand selected bouquets in the beautiful stand of Byarums Bruk. Each day they invited a renowned flower stylist who patiently selected and bound bouquets for the more-than-excited visitors queuing to receive their colourful treats.
Christoffers Blommor offered a similar treat in town but I was sick with a stomach flu and unable to visit their mega popular installation.
House plants and flower services are very trendy right now, but I hope to see an increased awareness around the sourcing of the flowers, more articles on why we feel so good surrounding ourselves with all this natural beauty and how we, most importantly, need to create more sustainable designs, promoting respect for Mother Nature, factory workers and our living environments.
