Some Shattered Glass haters apparently believe that mirror universe aus are inherently one-dimensional/morally black and white? Or that making a mirror universe au inherently flattens and monochromes canon, somehow??
People who say that are just showing a lack of imagination (and at least TFP's canon is morally black and white to begin with). Reversal can, in fact, still beinteresting and maybe even complex.
For example, in my G1 cartoon SG fic, The Guardian, Shockwave was a good person but had lost faith in Megatron because he thought Megatron abandoned them.
My SG TFA Blurr is the spy, and increasingly conflicted between his indoctrination and his experiences with the Decepticons on Earth.
And in my TFP SG series Smokescreen is a disillusioned child soldier, and while Soundwave's not really a bad person, in Better The Revolution, (SPOILER!) he grows to resent Megatron and blames him for the cassettes' deaths, and ultimately tries to kill him when an opportunity presents itself.
