Michael Umney presents... Frequencies at 1pm
In this week’s Frequencies Michael Umney presents exclusive live recordings of three exciting new collaborations arranged by The Science Gallery, London, a new space for collaborations and conversations between the worlds of art and Science.
Singer, musician and performance artist Bishi, performs In Sleep accompanied by Neil Kaczor with live electronics and a setting for the writing of Hanef Kureshi with James McVinnie on the organ. In Sleep was developed in collaboration with the Children’s Sleep Centre at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
From the Central Hall of St Thomas’s hospital Nick Jones performs a new composition developed during the time he spent with hospital porters Antonino Ama and Jenasky Verass. Featuring live performance on gas cylinders and pill bottles.
Also recorded in St Thomas’s hospital you’ll hear an extract from Stewart Pemberton’s performance a new collaboration between Stewart, a juggler and tap dancer, loop peddle utilising percussionist Jules and young people from the Evelina London Children’s Hospital whose recorded voices feature in the piece.
