Episode 2x07

I have just finished watching the episode and I am going to share my thoughts on the dreaded malec topic. Firstly because I need to get it all out, secondly because I love this fandom, I love to be a part of it and it’s all supposed to be fun, right? Tiny PSA here: These are my opinions and I get that you may not agree with them. I ask anyone who feels like being unkind on this lovely Valentine’s day (and I mean that with zero sarcasm) to please save it for another day. I have not slept at all last night and had a massive panic attack due to all this drama. I am not saying it wasn’t justified or that people are not entitled to feel disappointed and upset. I do however think some took it too far and I just cannot deal with anymore negativity. I find this to be a safe place to vent, one of few actually, so thank you for letting me.

I would like to say that malec and their sex is currently a big case of Schrödinger's cat. From what we saw there is NO WAY anyone can tell if they did or did not have sex. No one confirmed it and honestly I do not think they did it. Remember, they are soft and pure...(I may be completely wrong of course :)) The question is, did Alec need Magnus’s consent for that passionate kiss he gave him? Because that’s all we know right now. He kissed him, yes, he pushed him towards the bedroom and that’s ALL we know. Could have this been handled better? Yes, OF COURSE, by not letting us fucking wait until next week, like what the hell is that. But Magnus is an adult and he is in a situation where he does not feel threatened. He WILL stop Alec if he wants to stop him. Alec is not a rapist, or a molester ffs and the writers did not even hint at that. He is a giddy young shadowhunter who pushed a little too hard because he wanted something and he wanted it now and he tried not to overthink it. Magnus said he is afraid to lose him but I bet Alec is just as afraid. I mean, Casanova?? Would you like to go against that? So yeah, Magnus could pacify him with both eyes closed. I will not draw any conclusions, I will not cast any blame at this point. I will wait for the next week’s episode, because even though I think they fucked up a little bit, I will give them the benefit of the doubt, because they deserve it. Jumping ahead to the 2x08 promo, the kissing scene for me seems like a flashback. And I feel there is no way this will not be addressed. For some people it may be too late, for me, it is not. If I will not be able to make any sense of this whole situation after next week, then I will ask for explanation. Especially about the absolutely unnecessary rolling in bed by Jace and Miss what’s her name that no one has any problems showing us. Until then, I feel that people took their anger aimed at the showrunners a little too far.

#Malec mania - malec screen time - this is a tricky subject. I would like malec to have more time, of course. However, I did not feel cheated with malec screen time. I don’t know, I just didn’t for some reason, mostly because I learned to lower my expectations, so it worked out. Also we haven’t seen Valentine for whole episodes so I feel like it was time to bring him back. The malec mania tweet from Todd, that was over exaggerated, I agree. But then again, sometimes I feel all people ask for are malec kisses. Those seem to be like some kind of holy grail for fans. So maybe for Todd, the episode felt like malec mania because we got some good kisses (come on, the kisses were good and there was more than one) If people are disappointed about this, I understand. I do not feel the same way, but I understand.

It’s possible I forgot something I wanted to say, but oh well, I think I covered most of what I was concerned about. The whole episode was, in my opinion, wonderful, I loved it. The angel broke my heart, it was so beautiful. Next week will be interesting, Alec was handling ‘the guilt’ quite well, I am really interested to know what will get him up on that ledge and even more, what will get him down.
