“I need a break.”
“That's a wonderful idea. Well, where do you wanna go? Hawaii? Jamaica? I've never been on a plane before, but let's avoid coach-”
“No, Magnus. I need a break from us.”
Okay, I’ve watched the episode now. I feel validated because I called DW loving Halloween and SH hating it two years ago. Also called Clary being a fan too.
They said it was meant to be an episode for bringing new people in and it shows. It was almost annoying how expositional some of the lines were though they did do a good job at presenting the world, shadowhunting, and the dynamics (Parabatai fighting together??)
I wish the same sort of effort was put into Alec’s break up lines. I felt nothing, even with HSJ and MD doing what they could to make the scene emotional. It fell flat. Magnus has better take the wheel of his own journey. It’s been three episodes of the B Story being driven by Alec and I’m tired.
Din’t like Simon almost kissing Izzy. Didn’t buy Clary’s turn to darkness (though at least we got a reason for the Seelie Nymph to have stuck with Jonathan for so long).
Holding hope for Maia forgiving Jordan to be a “relapse”, the sort of thing that happens before Maia finally breaks free. Still waiting for that scene of Maia, Simon, and Bat in front of a fire for that. Otherwise, I’m done. I’m not staying with a show that actually brings an abuse victim and her abuser together.
I've not watched 318 yet but boy what a fun episode I can look forward to.
“You've been through a trauma, a loss of identity. Believe me. I understand.”
“I feel so hopeless sometimes. And I don't want to burden him.”
I thought this parallel was really interesting.
Symbolising Alec walking out of Magnus' life and Asmodeus walking into it.
Also that Alec was the doorway for Asmodeus to get to Magnus.
I may be reading too much into it but I love the imagery.
“You said there's nothing I can do to make it better.”
“It's not your job to make it better.”

“I don't know what I'd do without your son.”
“We are all here for you, Magnus. You're part of the family.”
