the suffering is underway.
sorted all of the parts for this thing in to baggies- head/chest/left arm/right arm/waist/left leg/right leg/gn drive and then each of the weapons is in their own baggie.
started tearing down the PG Exia (i built it in 2021) which was tough because of the way the led kit is installed in it. bandai did an excellent job engineering this kit so the LED wires are run really cleverly through the frame but that means you gotta be extra careful dismantling it. sorting out how i'm going to keep the bandai LED kit is going to be really, really tricky. i have to make space on the resin parts and remove LED units from the bandai kit and add LEDs to the resin kit and that's just at a glance. the gn drive poses the biggest question marks and most challenges because it's completely different from the Exia's. i'm a clever guy though, i think i'll figure it out.
i chopped the flash off of the resin body parts using the godhand RCN-120s and im really pleased with how those performed on this kit so far. now i'm going through everything and testfitting what I can to make sure all my parts are here and learning how this thing is assembled. i checked off a parts list but honestly putting these together is such a pain that i never really know if i have everything or not until i do this step.
once everything is fitted as well as it can be, it's off to jam my head in the spray booth with a respirator on to sand the flash on the resin parts down and fill any gaps or bubbles that might surface. i'm making choices on paints too and i get to use an RG Astraea as a testbed for the custom reds I'm gonna mix up for the PG.
see you next update. hopefully that one is showing off the fully testfitted conversion kit.
