Bonehead Crossbone
Spooky scary skeleton man!
This is one of those builds of mine that, for whatever reason, I just didnāt finish. The idea is that you can use the skull chest from Crossbone Maoh and give it Full Clothās shoulders. However, this wound up on my being half-painted and eventually pushed aside for other projects. Sometimes this just happens; Iāll want to work on something, but it ends up getting sidetracked for a myriad of other things, and I ultimately just lose interest. Sometimes, this just happens.
Over a decade ago, in 2012, I bought the Bandai transforming Valkyrie kits with Super/Fast packs. One Hikaru use VF-1A/S, and one Roy Fokker VF1-S. This wonderful pile of parts *should* be everything for the basic Valk, with the Strike parts off in their own baggies.
I cut all the parts out, painted the frame parts, stuck them in a bag (apparently figuring that "white parts over here, grey parts over there and I'll figure out the rest later was good enough) and then left it til now. My friends and I made our own little Zaku II squadron for Wonderfest, and after that was finished up we talked about doing a squad of Valkyries out of the Hasegawa kits. As a warmup for my aircraft painting skills, I dug these apparently rare badboys up and....wilted. because look at that. No runner markings. No separation on things. Just about nothing to go on.
So I set to splitting things up based on part size and looking for the parts I needed to get started. Before I can really dig in to this build, I gotta figure out where stuff like seamlines are at and how I'm gonna deal with those so a test build is absolutely required. I used to just chop my parts off the runner and then cut the nubs off with a hobby knife so there are some sections where I need to do some light sanding or filling with putty to restore the correct shape but it looks like for the most part I was pretty careful about taking too much plastic off back then. Nice work, 2012 me.
I think mainly there are just a few big seamlines on the nose area to deal with. I'll probably need to do some masking for the black parts when it's gap closing time but with this much of the kit pieced together, I think I'm in for an easy-ish time despite the construction being pretty different from a mobile suit. Don't think I'll be trying PE or anything too crazy with this, it's just a testbed for the Hasegawa Super Strike Valk I intend on making with my pals.
still kinda shook abt taking home 6 gold awards / 4 silver + best mecha at wonderfest KY. it's *weird*. i wasn't expecting that at all and it's just got me feeling so....wanting to build more models and to branch out to stuff like model aircraft and cars.

āyouāre such a ray of sunshine!ā thanks! one day i chose to act happy and then i kept choosing it over and over and over and over until the neurological pathways formed like desire paths in the thicket. i dug and clawed my nails into the grooves of my brain and carved out joy. i retouch it every day.
