Associations start famously & last till the fair weather lasts .The moment he comes into dark times the associations go phut , hearthrobs finding another golden goose , transfering their affection to the new entrant . I have heard some one say .' Oh He is king . He is my turtle dove. He is great ......His golden days over , he becomes,' Oh ,What a jerk , rascal ,such a dodo .., replaced by another fat bakhra . Plenty of them available for catch , scattered all over....... Just choose , which one you want , fattest .. juiciest ?

Some associations dont come in this category .......... They are based on different rules ,........... The rules of pure hearts .

They are something above all worldly materials .... They are based on soul to soul respect , adoration & admiration . They are sincere , loyal & stead fast till the last breath . They do not eye their faida . They are not broken in difficult times . They are life giving support to the two people who are connected by this bond of hearts .

People who are used to the matlabi associations cannot understand such pure divine bonds . It is all beyond their grasp . These people will talk dirty about pure things because their hearts are dirty .....

Shankerji , himself pure hearted with high values , will not stand such people . He will show them the doors without hesitation . This earned him lot of enemies .

He held me in high regards , the way I held him , which I still do & will always do .

If he had seen any little speck of selfishness, greedy motives or any other unethical streak in me he would have driven me miles away from him .

He appreciated my nature , my principles & my behavior a lot . He would present me proudly to everyone, ' she is so knowledgable , so talented .. He would praise me publicly , saying ' comes from a high cultured family , highly educated , with high manners , so on & on His praises for me burned some people no end & I acquired lot of dushmans because of his praises . Actually more than my songs , his ongoing praises for me brought me wraths from madam . She took them all personally & got furious . Without realising that he is planting seeds of revolt in her & her loyal sena's minds against me , he will coolly go on lagaving more & more mirchi upon them .. ' Oh , please ..please .. dont go overboard ' I would beg him . Is he going to listen ?

He , of course was beyond praises . His principles, his sincerity . his mental , emotional strength on top of his musical genius would make anyone respect him abundantly ........ Only if they were able to see the inner self of him .......

I saw him as a genius with an encyclopedia of music flowing in his system & a personality with top character , pure heart & noble principles . He saw me as a fearless lamb , going barging in a jungle full of wild animals .

Nothing else was seen ................ Nothing else mattered...........

He makes a diamond out of a stone & brings the sparkles to you . Titli & others .........................................

He did not have all these kalyan gunns which are the general qualifications for filmland people .

So he would not know how to please people with such principles .No wonder such people would say mean things about him .

One biggest complaint against him is that he was hot tempered . Being hot tempered is not a thing for which to brand a person as bad .Many people with golden hearts are hot tempered .

Lord Shiva was hot tempered . Everyone is all the time worried when He will open His teesri aankh . We dont love Him any less for that ..

And Shankerji was like Him in many aspects . His parents have given him the right name ..Shanker ................................

Actually his gussa is only upto the lips .. No ill feeling against anyone , no hatred towards anyone There is this figure of speech , which goes ' His bark is worse than his bite .. You might have heard ..

What I have learnt from experience is , when he flares up what you have to do is ............do nothing ! Just keep quiet ... things will cool down in no time .. If you make a mistake of saying something or answering back or anything of that sort , situation will go out of control . So even if you are right & he is wrong , just dont say a word . He will come to terms later & understand by himself ...

So if you can see his inner self you will know what a great person he was ....

Jaikishenji also saw my nature & gave me lot of respect & held me in high regards. If anyone else says something it is ok , Shankerji would give a hoot . But if Jai sab was not in favour of me it would have surely put lot of strain upon Shankerji . But his whole hearted support of me gave solid boost to Shankerji .He told me that Jai sab always had good things to say about me & he had never never ever ever uttered one word unfavourable of me .. So they both encouraged me thro out my turbulent journey .

Here is the list of some of the songs of mine which were deleted from the movies ......Not for any technical reasons but for personal reasons

Ayega kaun yahaan / film Gumnaam , Tere siva / film Pyar mohabbat , Taaronse pyare , Tumko sanam , Tumharibhi jai jai / film Diwana , 3 songs / film Joker & Kisike dilko sanam . film Kal aaj aur kal .... and more ................

Many other wonderful singers suffered heartbreaks like me , Hemlatha , Sulakshana , Usha timoty & many others . They all gulped their grief silently & faded away .

But my case was different .. I had made an enormous bargain & had paid a heavy price for my dreams .. I had left my family ... So everytime , I broke down & when the sucker punch came with Joker I crumble into thousand pieces .

My family was dead against my entering movies . When I came to Bombay they thought I would lagav chakker to a few studios , nothing will happen & I would return home . But they heard warning bells when things worked out differently.

The inevitable family show down materialises ..

' Filmome gaane nikli . voh bhi hindi filmome ... Do you even know hindi for that matter ?

'I will learn , I have studied sanskrit upto my high school , It will be easy .

' Iski buddhi brasht hogayi .. How will you know that they will give you a chance ?

' I know , Rajkapoorji has promised me The scene flashes back in my mind Will you make me sing in your movie , Raj sab ? Sure I will .Come to Bombay .. ctjee haan .. Zaroor ji I shake up 'And Shankerji has organised my training .

' Wah ,, Jawab nahin , They are going to train you ? They dont have trained singers or what ?

'Yes .. But Raj kapoorji likes my voice .That is why he called me to Bombay ..

' This girl has gone mad .. Who is Rajkapoor . & who is Shanker ? Do you know them ?

'Yes I know them .. They are good people ..

' Aha .. here comes the expert judge of people.......... What will you do , if they turn out to be rogues ?

' Dont say that .. They are not like that .

'Oh .. you are giving guarantee for them ! You dont know the world , girl .. Forget about Rajkapoor , forget about Shanker .. Come home ..

' Noooooo I cry ..' I cannot .. I want to sing in hindi movies ..

They try their level best , cajoling , bullying , threatening Sam dan bedh dhand all technics applied . . Nothing worked .. No budging from my side ..

' Sadogi ... Marogi..

' Chalega

' Ok .. Sado maro .. Dont come home again

' I wont come ....

Till today I cannot fathom what sort of a bhoot had come upon me & how I had the nerve to do this ........was it Shankerji's strong strong impression ? The trust that had come in my mind ?

Time passes , hope , tension , anxiety , anticipation, worry , dreams ....joy of learning music & the fun of SJ hall rehearsals Disturbing memories of family ..ups & downs of moods , tears & laughs , glitter of film functions..............

A day comes when Titli flies all the way down south singing & fluttering in the lanes & reaches their ears & travels to their hearts Slowly slowly this little Titli cools them down .

Those days in our community , they just dont disown the girls who go astray like this . They go to the river cauvaery , take a snan & perform the last rites for the girls .

Luckily my family did not do this for me , so they were able to take me back .

My newly acquired friend Meeta says , get everything out of your chest tell everything , dont carry the burden in your heart , remove it , then you can go to Moksha
