The Silver Cavern

School quarter's out so I finally had time to finish this!!! Yes!!! It's been in the works since October of 2025, and I am so so happy to see it complete!

I absolutely loved the silver cavern part in Shadow Sun. It's hardly a secret that I'm easily entranced big magical fantasy caves, and so when I read that part in the book I was practically bouncing off the walls! I knew I wanted to draw the scene (note: many artistic liberties were taken in the final version) but I'd never tried something of this scale or level of detail before. I took a lot of inspiration from Dinotopia: The World Beneath, and I just went for it!

Some more Sengoku Basara OCs I made for my Mōri clan fanon, "Shadow Sun" :)

Aiō Mototsuna, Motonari's half-brother and his very first boss battle! The two never really liked each other, but while their big brother Ōkimoto was alive, they could at least tolerate one another.

Ōuchi Yoshitaka, the only friend Motonari has ever had (and also his very first crush 👀). A kind and carefree young lord who preferred Nō Theatre to the overwhelming warring world around him. Despite being considered a weak leader, Motonari deeply believed in him before ultimately taking his place as the ruler and unifier of Aki.

Sue Harukata, a former vassal of the Ōuchi clan and Motonari's second boss battle. He betrayed Yoshitaka, leaving him to die in Motonari's arms. He was later defeated by the combined forces of the Mōri (who had claimed what remained of the Ōuchi clan) and the Murakami Pirates.

Amago Tsunehisa, the "Ogre of the Desert," grandfather of Amago Haruhisa, and Motonari's original rival. The two never had the chance to fulfill their promise to meet on the battlefield due to Tsunehisa's advanced age. When battling against Haruhisa, Motonari ends up fighting an illusion of Tsunehisa instead.

All of these OCs are part of a pre-Devil Kings arc as part of Motonari's origin story and also part of the reason why he ended up being the cold-blooded evil okra we all know :)
