The park is filled with mostly preschoolers and kindergartners and their parents and or babysitters. Several guys are on the court playing ball while a few others are playing tennis. Serena walks over to a swing set, sits down and proceeds to read Celeste Forester’s latest crime thriller novel.
Serena noticed a shadow looming beside her as she read her book. Assuming it was just some kid getting on the swing she opted to ignore them. The shadow didn’t budge and she could feel as if she was being watched.
“It’s probably that Athan guy again.” She pinched the bridge of her nose. “So help me if you start with your bs again I’ll castrate you, I’m not playing.”
The swing’s chains clanked in protest at whoever was beside her. In her peripheral she could see a pair of Polo work boots followed by a worn pair of jeans.
“Yeah I can’t have you doing that, you would be ridding the world of some gorgeous children.”
His deep voice tickled her bones. She blinked rapidly to clear her head before chancing a look at him. “Who are you?”
“I could ask you the same thing.” Came his quick reply.
His green-gray eyes bore into her. Serena’s eyes narrowed in return. “Don’t play coy with me, I want a name.” She slammed her book close and stood up facing him.
He stepped down off of the swing getting directly in her face. “The name’s Mikhail, and I think you have something that belongs to me.”
