it was natural, to want to turn to marigold when something good happened. in reality, this was just the absence of impending doom. bones were heavy and muscles exhausted, but not so much so that she couldn’t approach the other and wrap arms round her neck, the action pulling andrea just barely onto tiptoes. they’d nearly died. the fact bounced round an otherwise empty mind. mind so empty, she couldn’t even think of the consequences, the repercussions of anything that happened next. ❛ i’m so happy you’re alive, ❜ she breathes, the sound more an exhale than words, murmured just past her ear with her nose buried in the crook of marigold’s neck. but then andie’s pulling back and she’s cupping go’s face gently between hers and coaxing it down just so she could press her lips to the other’s in massive relief. arms wrap around her, resting above her shoulders, and she pours relief into the other girl with the soft slide of her lips.

afternoon had turned to evening, and weekend blanketed the night with the electric promise of a good time. the volume was turned high, rattling bones with the strum of guitar and the twang of the synth. they were all smiles and laughs and forgotten lyrics. go doesn’t even have to ask with words, hands extended, before andie’s slipping her fingers into palms and tugging her friend around to the beat, head tossed back as she gives little hops and jumps to the rhythm of the radio, breathless and grinning as if the sun shone on them in the night.
now that was an unexpected compliment, even if it was phrased that way. a lot of things were said around town about eddie munson, some worse than others and not always particularly nice, but ‘normal’ was a rare one ( if she’s ever even heard it at all from anyone outside their little group ). chrissy definitely liked hearing it, though. “thank you. i will be taking that as a compliment,” she says with a dip of her head, the smallest of smiles creeping onto her face.
she wouldn’t say ‘normal’ was the best adjective out there to describe eddie, but it was better than what most people would say. “but if you tell him that, he’ll probably act all offended. he’d say that makes him boring.”

the gymnasium cheered, sound verging on deafening. the flash from her camera illuminated faces crinkled with raucous laughter, the glee of being ahead at halftime so close to the championship. viewfinder spots @shadowchasing ‘s familiar face in the crowd, high on the bleachers, and the court is still — so andie takes the opportunity to approach, climbing carefully, lens cap now affixed to camera hanging round her neck. ❛ i didn’t think you liked to come to these things, ❜ she admits upon arrival. tone is charged with a smile, no affront intended by the words.
