TELL ME ABOUT OLEKSANDER, OWLISH >83 x3 Kidding! Tell me: What's Howl up to? What's his goal? How many people have fallen prey to him? Was he ever anything but a primal being? On a less serious note: Hircine, why you bite people? RUDE! But I still wish to kiss his snoot. Also, Marrok. Is his ability with plants innate to his species or something he learned?
I WILL TELL YOU ABOUT OLEKSANDER, I WILL. Eventually. It’s a work in progress. ^^’’
Oh, Howl… He’s probably one of my favorites. His bio can get a bit confusing, since it doesn’t really explain much of anything. BUT there is the suggestion of something in there.
Howl is described as a Primal, and at least in my lore, those are… or were… nature deities, as old as time itself. You could say that they were the avatars of nature, brought into being to observe and (very rarely) interact with dragons. So, what happened?
Once dragons discovered the existence of beings such as Howl, they began to build shrines and temples, deep within the forests, to honor these beings. As generations came and went, this systematic pouring of belief changed the very essence of these beings, of Howl. All the fearful whispers, the fervent prayers, the sweet rapture of spiritual abandon, the quiet terror and dread: every single one of these things became part of Howl’s very essence.
In the end Howl became what they unknowingly made of him: a thing of horror, the eldritch monstrosity that dwells in the darkest part of the forest.
Howl has no apparent goal; he hunts and seduces and preys upon those that step foot inside the woods. He cannot be reasoned with, no more than a hurricane can be reasoned with. He is a tainted, perverse being, and more dangerous because of it. I don’t think he is evil, not exactly. Howl doesn’t understand the concept of right or wrong, of justice or fairness. Morality is a thing that doesn’t exist to him.
As for how many have fallen prey to him: countless. He has lived past many generations of dragons and will live past many more. He plays with his prey like a bored puppeteer, and when they aren’t fit to serve him anymore, the forest swallows them whole. When a dragon meets Howl, they will see something terrible in his face, in his eyes; but the scariest thing is that it will be a familiar feeling, like peeling oneself open to peer at the mad, savage beast inside. After all, Howl was corrupted by these wants and fears; he’s just returning the favor, so to speak.
HAHAHA, Hircine is a cutie. A cutie with very sharp teeth, mind you. I’m not sure why he keeps biting other dragons, but most of the Witches have gotten used to it. He’s very gentle about it, seeing as his teeth are REALLY, almost needle like, sharp. He loves to have his belly rubbed, however. Makes him so relaxed he’ll fall asleep right after.
One thing I do know about him is that he eats Shade for breakfast. No, really. He eats the Shade. Bits and pieces of it. His digestive system is a nightmare. He’s also fond of really weird food that has the other Witches wincing in disgust. Then again, when one’s favorite dish is toasted Shade… well… How weirder can Hircine get?
Marrok! He always knew he had a knack for sorcery and applied to learn several different subjects of magic. In all of his studies, he only really excelled at one thing: necrobotany. It’s something he enjoys, bringing plants back to life or controlling those that are dead. I’d say that yes, some of his gift with plants is natural, but like any ability, he’s had to study it and learn.
miasmajesty answered: idk friend i think the market is really wonky right now, i still haven’t sold my ob/black/ivory glim ridgy for some reason? i had trouble selling m imps recently too.. hrm.
omg I had an obs/obs/ivory glimmer rb that wouldn’t sell for the life of me... I can’t remember if I ended up having to exalt him or not but it was close
shadowdrac answered: I think for some it may be that Toxin on male imps looks a lot like crackle in the beard/mane areas. It’s something I’ve read repeatedly from a number of users, so it could be a factor- with this fellow, at least.
oh really?? that’s a cry and shame, I LOVE that about toxin on male imps. ;n; it looks like he’s all dipped in ink and stuff
plushstiel answered: If i had KNOWN!!! He is gorgeous!!

11. Who handles interclan relations? Any diplomats? Peacekeepers?
Rasim is actually the head of the peacekeepers within Clan Atel and works directly with the clan’s patrols. Orison and Sariah work as the diplomats to other clans or groups that are passing through their lands.
15. Does your clan have a council? An elected group of dragons in power?
There is a council of the eldest four dragons(Lorna, Ceto, Faelin, and Oheln) and the clan Patriarch (Rasim) acts as a tie-breaker should there be a divide in the clan.
21. Does your clan have a healer?
Yep! The main healer is Yaverni with her apprentice Belhan.
27. Any messengers? Scouts? Delivery dragons?
Oh holy crap. Scouts are not in short supply within Clan Atel. Faelin leads his crew of mixed children to scout the far reaches of the clan’s territory. Leshav, one of Faelin’s many children, acts as the main messenger within the clan also being the delivery girl when necessary.
35. Does your clan specialize in anything?
Clan Atel takes in those that are lost, but they specialize in healing those who are broken. Either physically, mentally, or emotionally.
66. Who gets into arguments the most? Who keeps the peace?
Oreve and Keroel are awful about picking at the hatchlings and those they don’t think of as important. It’s not uncommon for Nathair, as clan Matriach, to sentence them to punishment duty for this. If not her then Rasim’s son Olek or his daughter Jesok will set in to start up round two against the small troublemaker fae. Eshira and Ceto are often the peacekeepers within the clan for petty squabbles though.

Wow. What a shitty tow truck service, though. :/ I hope you all are alright. Do you have food and stuff if you end up being stuck there for a while?
Yeah, we figured if anything was capable of coming down the street, a tow truck should be able to handle it. Blegh.
And yeah, I’ll be fine. Our vending machine is one of those refrigerated ones with sandwiches and stuff. It’s well-stocked and takes credit cards. I already had a vending machine dinner (and a Snickers because I deserve it if I’m still here), but if worst comes to absolute worst and I need to camp out overnight, there’s even a breakfast faux-McMuffin thing in the vending machine. :P
On the plus side, I’m the only employee stuck here who works in my little back corner of the building, so I’m blasting upbeat techno music while I work, lol.
shadowdrac answered your question “Help with chest binder?”
From my experience, you can add darts. I actually took in the sides of mine from top to bottom and it still worked fine. Random warning: wash that sucker by hand. I washed mine a total of three times and it's ruined. Buying from gc2b next time.
Thank you! And thanks for the heads-up on washing... I would totally have just thrown it in the washer. :/
And thanks for the reference on gc2b also... those ones look like they’d fit my shoulders better, too, since they’re specifically made for breast reduction. Wish I’d found them first, but Underworks was the one that kept coming up on my searches, blergh. (I learned my lesson - ask Tumblr for references beforehand in the future!)
I think I’ll have to make do with the one I have for now, but I might try to upgrade to gc2b before I wear the costume at Dragon Con.
My first commission is done! This piece is of shadowdrac's Inquisitor, Sojan Adaar, getting up to some mischief with Sera around Skyhold. I'll leave it up to your imagination just what sort of trouble they were making with the paint. ;)
This was my first time drawing a qunari, but Sojan was a great model! Thanks to shadowdrac for letting me draw him, and for being so patient as I learned commissions take me WAY longer than drawing my own characters.
Still working on my second commission, but I hope to have it completed soon as well!

I like all of your stuff. if you don't want to enter cosplay I think your recent artworks have been really beautiful!
Aww, thank you! *hug* You are so sweet. :)

Not getting to do a dedicated shoot of your architect (or any of your cosplays really) is one of my regrets. but to answer the question, i'd say the tabris zevran piece, it has the most interesting lighting of the three imo
Yeah, I really regret not doing a full photoshoot of the Architect when I could. I got a few really good pics at the group shoot, but since it was kind of a hectic group setting, there are a few things about the pics that bug me. (Nothing that's the photographer's fault, just stuff like my skirt piece not being layered right, or my persistent double-chin, stuff like that).
If you'll be at DC this year and are willing to do a quick photo shoot on Saturday, I might send you a message closer to DC to hire you to take some decent photos of Corypheus. I really plan to take my time and do this costume right, fixing all of the stuff I screwed up with the Architect. :P

GIRL, enter your Architect cosplay RIGHT NOW. Pleeeeeeeease. It is amazing and I'm sure the Dragon Age team would love seeing it. If you're set on art, I do love "Lavellan". That piece came out beautifully.
Thank you! I really do love my Architect cosplay, but in the few high-quality photos I have, there are things that make me reluctant to enter it (the stuff I mentioned above). Also, I'll admit I'm hesitant to enter ANY cosplay that will be posted on the Bioware FB page, after the nasty comments the plus-size cosplayers received back in 2011. (Bioware posted our group photo from Dragon Con, and there were a lot of "eww, disgusting fatties" comments. To BW's credit, they shut that stuff down pretty quick, but it was still hurtful).
I'm still proud of the cosplay, but I know the FB general public can be harsher than some forums, and I don't know if I want to open myself up to that.
Thank you very much for the compliments though. :) I really wish I had taken the time to do a dedicated one-on-one photoshoot of the Architect, but hindsight is 20/20. :P
