“Shadowjacks. Based on a character created by Roger Zelazny, these beings can melt into any shadow - and reappear from any connected shadow.” (Liz Danforth illus from Monsters! Monsters! 1st edition by Ken St Andre, Metagaming, 1976) Zelazny’s original Shadowjack was the protagonist of his 1971 novel Jack of Shadows, which was named after author Jack Vance, who also inspired the name of D&D’s Vecna.

Heads Up Seven Up
Thanks to @toribookworm22 for tagging me! It had been a few days since I'd added to ShadowJack, but that's still what I've worked on most recently!
One bowl of honey nut cornflakes later. I was feeling much more human. Sure, my meal might have been oversugared and unhealthy, but after replacing dinner with a kidnapping, the sugary ambrosia was just what I needed.
I threw my jacket around my shoulders and emerged from my apartment into the cool afternoon air. Yesterday's storm seemed to have passed in the night, and today, the atmosphere was merely chilly.
I started down the stairs to my office, keys jingling in my hand. Time to get back on Magnus and Simon's trail, I thought. I owe them a little payback for their 'hospitality' last night.
There is, as ever, no pressure to jump in, but I'm tagging @chauceryfairytales, @theresawritesstuff, and @albatris !

Heads Up 7 Up/Last Line
Thanks to @toribookworm22 for the tag!
Today's last seven(ish) lines come from ShadowJack again, where a side character has been very busy while my main detective was off getting beat up.
Two hundred and fifty-seven!? Magnus and Simon weren't exactly average individuals, but there was no way I'd find them in a crowd of over two hundred people.
Lisa seemed to pick up on my concern. "What's wrong, Jack? This many people - it's a good thing!"
"How long until Hutton comes on?"
At my mention of the mayor, Lisa grinned. "The mayor? Oh, he'll be on in a bit...and then he'll be on the spot."
"On the spot? What do you mean, he'll be on the spot?"
Lisa's smile wouldn't have looked out of place on a shark. "I did some digging, Jack. And you wouldn't believe what I found."
The plot thickens!
If you're interested, consider this a no-pressure tag for @dawnsplaceyt @the-forgotten-sunfish @ashen-crest ! Can't wait to see what y'all are working on!

Thanks for the tag @toribookworm22!
I just finished Chapter 15 of ShadowJack, and um, it sure ends on a note.
And numbly, I felt myself match his cadence as Giant continued on into the night.
I’m no-pressure tagging: @elizaellwrites, @creatrackers, and @angelolytle !
