Not saying anything had ended up being the biggest mistake of his life. Ever since Obi’s loss, Zen hadn’t known what to do. He’d searched through seemingly endless solutions, until--
“Do you want to go back? Do you want to change things?”
She had appeared, just when he was giving up hope.
Which was how he’d ended up like this. She couldn’t send his body back, but, his mind, his consciousness, that she could do. Though in doing so, he would die in his current life. But that was fine... Because.. If.. He managed to change things, this future wouldn’t exist anyway. So he’d accepted.
He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, after what had seemed like only moments, he was waking up in his bed. His room was a little different, cleaner, like it had been before. There was a newspaper that had been slipped under his door, and the date confirmed, somehow, that she’d managed it. Though it still didn’t quite feel real..
He was still sort of standing there, seeming to be staring at the newspaper in a slight daze, when he heard a voice behind him. A voice he had, in his future, not heard in a long time.. And his heart.. Ached and started beating wildly at the same time. He turned around slowly, blue eyes blinking a little and then just.. Staring at that ruggedly familiar face for several long seconds, as if his brain had sort of checked out.
Obi...
