The truth is, Sonic wasn't perfect. He knew that about himself, and he only ever did what he felt was what he needed to do. Once upon a time, Sonic thought he needed to help his former friend, the same way Solaris helped him as a grieving child. But that former friend has manipulated his emotions at every turn, and refuses to change no matter how many olive branches had been extended to him. And what did Sonic ever get out of it? More lives lost on his name? More guilt?

The worrisome part is Mephiles can likely see the moment he hesitates. Leaving the beaten and broken god here to perish, within another endless void. Is this another trick to manipulate his emotions? Does Sonic even care at this point if it is?

❝ It's what you want. ❞ The speedster reminds, gesturing to the crumbling sky and sinking floor. One way or another, Mephiles will end up like this. There is nothing Sonic can do to change that. Only who all goes with him... And as we already know, they're both opportunists.

Tails's Blast Cannon has upgraded once more! Upon activation, a defensive boost will be applied to Tails. The fighting force and indomitable nature of Mari the Beast Rider shall brace the fox for a short stint of time, granting him what it takes to see the job to journey's end! This world is no joke, but we're no slouches, either!

Upon activation, a liar's beguiling wit will overcome Tails. By nature, the fox is not so adept at lying, but a trickster's spirit will embolden him to coat truth in murky subterfuge. ...Though, this does not make the kit amazing at lying. It merely makes him better than horrible.

Upon activation, a light in the dark of madness will maintain the mind, allowing it to recognize the truth of self even beyond a hazy miasma of psychic torment. His brain is his greatest asset, and those who attempt to bewilder, bewitch, or break it down shall find it harder to find their mark. He knows who he is, and none will take this from him.

Upon activation, physical strength will rise as the choice of fight or flight becomes crystal clear. Fear, it is a natural reaction packaged in our bodies at large. In the correct amounts, it can be a boon instead of a hindrance. The fear of the unnatural and unexplainable will surge through the fox, forcing on-the-spot calls and decision-making. No delineating, no room for panic. Fight for the life you still have.

Upon activation, receive a boost from the other side of intelligence. Something more unrestricted and free-form. The fox, he is not left wanting for smarts. Anyone who has met him could tell you he radiates raw knowledge. Though, he does not know all, and there is always room for improvement. The judgment of those unlike yourself can prove useful, elevating a concept from outstanding to amazing with a little outside-the-box thinking. Just try not to get carried away.

The flames stir within her at the shadow's presence. It's magnetic--like how the Sol Emeralds call to her...but it feels more personal. A calling of some kind. Blaze turns to face Mephiles from where she stands on the balcony. He's appropriately cut and defined in shadow, more a pair of glowing eyes than a figure with a body. "...You're not from this world." A tight frown as she realizes there's no Chaos within the spirit's(?) body either. Something is wrong. Blaze is careful not to ball her hands, careful to try to be friendly first. Rise above your temper. "Nor are you from Sonic's."

          Eyes narrowed. Fate—? That word.. It always awakened disgust in him. And this time's not any different. The thought that something else ( SOMEONE ELSE ) got to determine what'll become of him.. There's no way the Ultimate lifeform can accept something it. Not when his whole life, up until very recently, had been full of people wanting him to be different things. From a savior to a bringer of death.

          "What makes you think-" His protest was cut short as another bullet was shot his way. This time he's quick enough to Chaos Control himself to safety.

          "—This isn't your fight. And I'm not going to die here." No matter how many robots were heading his way.
