@shadowtongued liked for an alien encounter
WAHISIETEL WAS always nervous around animals. As much as he liked them, they seemed to react violently towards his kind; whether it be spitting and clawing or rearing in an attempt to trample, there seemed to be a sort of primal fear they felt towards the Mahjarrat.
SO, naturally he was more than a little confused when he heard about his brother’s animal adoption. Was it attacking him on a daily basis? How could he ever get work done? Curiosity was always a weakness of his, and this was so exception.
❝ SO, THIS little cat. If I hold my hand out it will not go for my throat? It is not that I distrust you, I just find it hard to believe that something so small wouldn’t react with fear. You remember what happened last time I tried to offer an alliance with a cat. ❞ The yowling could be heard for miles.

The cacophony of laughter rang through the alley and out into the street, but there was nobody around this late in the evening to hear it. So Talyn thought.
“What’s the matter, devil-kin? Where’s your claws and fangs?”
A boot collided with the downed figure’s chest, earning a pained cry as the tiefling rolled. He shuddered, curling in on himself, choking on fear, and agony as he clutched his left arm and held it against his chest.
The others in the small group laughed more when he didn’t get up. Even from his spot on the ground, Talyn could smell the alcohol on their breaths. Evidently they took Talyn speaking to one of ‘their’ women as some kind of threat and that possessiveness turned into blind jealousy and rage, despite Talyn’s claims that he wanted nothing to do with her. It led to them dragging him out to the alleyway to teach him a lesson.
He didn’t fight back, because if he did, he wouldn’t be able to stop. He would black out and wake up to three murdered men and he’d have to run again. He’d have to live with three more lives taken by his hands. So he laid there, curled up on the ground as the three of them approached, unaware of the tall, fourth figure looming behind them...
sliske is now vanx’s second favorite person because he can full on chuck her at the wall, and really, that’s all she ever wanted

A metal tray in hands, Vynera moved with a strange surety even in this dark and dim place. A smear of color, she stood out against the dingy area, and earned her fair share of stares as she approached a door as dark as its surroundings. Shifting her weight, a hand rapped at the door, and found it cracked slightly. Odd. Vynera pushed it open with an elbow, and took a few steps into the building.
“Sliske? You here? I’ve got the stuff...”

4. An accidental brush of lips followed by a pause and going back for another, on purpose. / 24. Deep kisses where they have their hands tangled in each other’s hair to pull them closer.
The flowers only opened in the dark, he’d told Tess. She knew the ones, and better, she knew where to find them. When she’d offered to walk with him, Sliske had accepted—not that she thought he needed the protection, but company would deter any would-be troublemakers.
He was right about his cloak having a more impressive effect in the night, even with half a moon still hanging in the velvet sky. She told him so and earned a grin from him.
Tess glanced ahead, trying to pick out an unbroken path in the dim light. “It’s almost like walking with a—” She stopped, suddenly alone with only the sound of her boots disturbing the leaf litter. Her gaze turned upward, finding nothing but the skeletal branches of the trees above her.
“Sliske?” She spun, scanning the way they’d come. Around her, the forest was still and silent. The hair on her arms rose as she began to feel more and more exposed.
When she turned again, she nearly slammed into him. And the grin he gave her, bent at the waist to be on eye level, had her swinging from terrified to incensed to indignant to mischievous within the span of his first rumbling chuckle.
With only a beat to gather herself, Tess stepped forward and stamped her lips against his. The look of unbalanced shock was an excellent reward, but as the moment dragged on, her triumphant smile slipped as she realized what she’d done and as she began to recognize the look on his face. He was staring at her mouth.
“I—” She began to reach out to him, to break the awkward pause. He seized her by the elbow and pulled her in, mouth crashing against hers. She grabbed for the front of his robe, hands unsure as her brain buzzed with the sensation of his teeth. He cradled the side of her head, clawed fingers ghosting against the back of her neck; like so many of his mannerisms, it might have made her wary, but she was distracted.
After a moment, he lost patience with bending double. His hand slid from its place on her waist and hooked behind her legs, scooping her off the ground and closer to his level. Tess, mostly focusing on the taste of his smirk and the warmth of his hands, responded to the shift in position by hooking her legs around his waist and tightening her grip on his robes. It was half instinct and half conscious decision, but as for what instinct and what decision, she couldn’t say. As she pulled herself closer, his hand flexed and gathered in her hair, fingers curling into the short locks and gripping tight. One of her hands slid to his ridged shoulder, where it met the base of his neck.
When they finally broke, breathing hard, Tess noticed he’d braced them against a tree.
“Careful putting me back down,” she murmured, glancing down at his feet. A cluster of pale flowers sprouted from the base of the tree. “We’re here.”
