plz enlighten us all about freezerburn, the lighting, the music composition, and how weiss has been yangs #1 since day 1 plz.

Oh Boy. Thing is I could talk about these things All Fucking Day because there is just. So Much to unpack out of all of it. The lighting especially tells so much a story in and of itself. I’ve talked very, very briefly about it before, but I’ll recap a bit.

So, if I’m going to talk about the lighting I have to run over the general composition a bit, as they tie in together very prominently. I’ll skip the scene before she actually says “I’m here for you, too” because yeah, that’s A Lot. But in that specific scene where the light is shining down on Weiss the position of the camera is framed so that we as the viewer are looking directly through Yang’s eyes. By having the camera behind Yang’s head and pointed like that towards Weiss implies that Yang is seeing her exactly as we are. Which, holy fuck, right? Because who doesn’t look at that shot of Weiss and think she’s perfect.

So the actual lighting is probably my favorite fucking part of this scene, less so because of how it is so obviously portraying Weiss in such an almost angelic manner, and more so because of the, ironically, kind of shady symbolism behind it. When the scene picks up, it leads through the same window the light pours out of and onto Weiss—except Yang’s back is turned to it. As she’s looking at her picture of team rwby and what they used to be (and Blake, but I’d need to make a whole other post about Yang and unrequited feelings to really go into that), she’s facing directly away from the light (I don’t mean to be shady, but you could say she’s facing the shadows ;)) . Throughout her conversation with Weiss, they shift so that they are neither facing towards, nor away from it, but as Yang turns to Weiss and we get that final scene that is Ridiculously Romantically Charged, she is facing the light for the first time.

Which. Fuck, right?

As for the music composition, there’s a fuck ton to unload there, too. We can skip the fact that they played The Path To Isolation, anybody could break that down into any multitude of reasons, but the score that played right before Weiss entered the room is what I want to talk about because Oh Boy. It starts off so slow and melancholic as she looks at the picture of her team (and Blake, specifically, as we are all aware of by now) but when Weiss knocks it slows down a little more, and stays that way until Yang lifts her head and it reveals that it’s Weiss and the song changes to a. Major Key. So much of this scene symbolizes that these two characters are moving forward and lifting each other up, and if you want to look more in depth in Yang’s feelings in particular, which there was an obvious heavy emphasis on (for also obvious reasons), it’s heavily symbolic of Yang’s feelings shifting to Weiss.

I’m honestly gonna have to make a whole new post about how they’ve been subtly-not-so-subtly intended for each other sense the beginning since I’m so wordy and there’s a Lot to unpack there, so I’m just gonna let this sit with you guys for a while ;)

or how weiss fucking threw herself on top of an enemy and into a geyser basically trying to sacrifice herself for Yang so Yang could fight one on one on fair grounds. instead, due to weiss's sacrifice - yang snaps out of her reckless anger and wins a 2v1. LIKE??? THEY DID THAT. :CLAP:

okay but like i gotta know...in this au are like...weiss and yang super possessive of one another?

not where it gets to the point of creepy and abusive ala Adam tarus. but just the perfect amount because of them bein’ well known and dangerous bandits. they have a more of a “look out for my partner only” kinda thing if that makes sense.
