any expectations/hopes/worries for rwby volume 8?

expectations: Salem will be forced to retreat from Atlas via the combined power of Penny, RWBYJNRQO, the Atlesian military, and a newly reunited Atlas/Mantle.

hopes: 10x the amount of Weiss/Schneebling focus as volume 7, a proper apology and reconciliation between Ozpin and The Kids that isn’t just one side giving a half-baked apology. Like, I really, REALLY want them to get down and dirty with all the baggage. ALL OF IT.

worries: not enough Weiss/Schneebling focus. No apology between Oz/The Kids. Salem gets speech-no-jutsu’d by Ruby. More hollow bee shit. And, in general, more of that garbage protagonist-centered morality.

I have this own little weird theory/hope from the latest episode that whatever kind of grim caused the former residents to die like that are a kind of Grimm similar to the Dementors from Harry Potter, where instead of just leaving someone a husk or negative energy they literally suck everything away until it kills them. I came up with this when I noticed how negative Weiss was getting and how the bodies didn’t show any sign of physical harm like cuts or anything like that

That doesn’t sound too weird tbh. There have been some theories that the Grimm might be based on a Mare demon, who sits on the chests of sleeping people and gives them nightmares (hence the word “nightmare”!). The negativity and exhaustion Weiss and Yang were feeling throughout the episode could very well be the effects of the Grimm’s presence which, like you said, would have alternative ways of killing since the former residents of the farm were all asleep and untouched when they died.

This Life is Mine, Sacrifice

Hmm. I think Salem’s is the most interesting, but I really want to see more of Weiss’s. Hers is probably the most simple, so to speak (not counting Ruby’s), but it’s clearly effected her deeply. Also I really want RT to be able to pull off an abusive parent character well. I don’t think they did too great in volume 4, so part of it is me wanted them to apply the tight storytelling they’ve had this volume to Weiss’s story next volume.

Tough to say! I don’t think there’s any ONE that I like the most, though Players and Pieces, Lighting the Fire, Alone Together, and The Lost Fable are up there.

Another tough one. I think Weiss’s has the most potential to be really crazy. Imagine if she combined her summons with elemental dust? Yang’s has the most hotblooded craziness potential too, though. Really like them both.
