Can I ask if you have headcanons for a Egyptian goddess named Shai and her Magicians?
a/n: Hadn't heard about this god in years so had to take some time to do some research. I will also be referring Shai with genderneutral pronouns like They/Them, and genderfluid pronouns like she/her and he/him as Shai is both referred as either female or male.
Not sure if I did it well but I tried! Not really long but hopefully you enjoy it!
Encountering and seeing Shai are two different things that are both separate yet intertwined much like Fate itself. For all that Shai is said to remain at the Egyptian's side until their final judgement before Osiris, most cannot see them. So the fact if a Magician can see Shai, already sets them on pursuing the Path of Shai, much like Fate itself.
I doubt there are many magicians of Shai out there, or at least, explicitly state themselves as such because for the most part, they also act as Shai themselves; being ambivalent parties who offer details accounts of each person's actions and intentions; much like Shai being an ambivalent deity who could protect or damn a person as they offer a true account of each life in the Hall of Judgement.
The hardest being a magician of Shai is being able to see one's fate and being able to see others' lists of misdeeds and virtues, but not being able to exactly interfere or address it in the moment. Unless it is an active issue, the Shai magicians are advised/prevented by Shai to judge anyone for their past misdeeds or virtues because their actions in the future have yet to be made.
Shai being referred to as either gender or referred with neutral pronouns in mythology does translate to being a magician of Shai. Whatever form they appear to their magician depends on them, either as a reflection of their own Ren/Soul, or preferences.
Technically Shai is a underworld and fertility/life deity, as Shai is mentioned or having connections with the underworld and spirit, from being an accountant of someone's deeds at the Hall of Judgement, the weighting of the Heart, to being the one who dictates how long one lives and being the husband of Renenutet, goddess of fate and destiny and bestower of secret names, or Meskhenet, goddess of chilbirth and assigned of Ren (name, identity).
As a magician of Shai, they have a talent for using Necromancy, healing magic, death magic, surveillance magic, and Divination magic. With no real pull or advantage over a certain elemental magic.
Necromancy and Death Magic for being Shai being connected with the underworld but it is preferrably used towards non-living entities or demons, as Shai decides when someone will live and dies. Unless Shai decides that someone will die, do not expect Shai's help with Necromancy nor Death magic and if it is used despite their call or not for self-defense if your life or others are at threat of being killed, it has major consequences as you bear the weight of your crimes and the memories and emotions of life that you've just taken.
Healing magic is stronger for magicians of Shai as technically a giver of life and guardian of it. Curses are not neccessarily a talent but it can be seen as one because with Shai's help, magicians are able to see the source of the Curse and who inflicted it because it requires intent and emotions.
Surveillance and Divination magic are a talent for magicians of Shai because as Shai is an accountant of everyone's deeds, this taps into Surveillance magic and Divination as well.
Just because Shai is the determiner of life and he is the husband of those who bestow everyone's ren and secret names, and just because you may or may not be privy to such information, you are forbidden of using somone's secret name nor ren without their explicit permission. Not as in forbidden where you shouldn't, you are unable to actually say it and any attempt to do so will have Shai take matters in his own hands.
The Thing of being Shai's magicians is that you are capable of making your own decisions and intent but while you are able to tap into Shai, you cannot use Shai as an excuse or motivation for your actions.
Going back to being able to know one's misdeeds and virtues, you cannot take justice on a misinterpretation of Shai's role in life and death, and feel justified in your actions. Your actions are your own. And just because you pursue the Path of Shai, it is not an get out of free card.
I have finally found my deities! I have studied many religions in my past so it was difficult to mentally go through each one trying to find the right gods. I was lying in bed with my familiar, Thomas, and he said something about Egypt. I looked into the Egyptian gods a bit more (as its been years since I studied Ancient Egyptian culture and religion) and found the perfect fits.
The main three that I worship are:
Iah-a lunar deity whose name simply means “moon”
Ra-the sun god himself
Shai/Shait-the concept of fate and has no fixed gender
I also worship Serket and Heka who are both goddesses of healing and magic.
Shai(he) and Shait(she), in egyptian mythology are the gods of Destiny and or Fate.
In the original version exist only Shai, and Shait are the paredra/female version. BUT in my version are twins. I hope you like it!
They are my version and Oc ispired by mithology.
