Imagine Lance having an extreme fear of heights, but he’s determined to get in the Galaxy Garrison. He manages to conquer his fear after a few years, which is how he gets accepted into the garrison to meet Shiro; the man who inspired him to become a pilot. But one day, he and Shiro are in the simulator together to test his skills, and suddenly all the memories of his panic attacks come flooding back and he immediately breaks down.
But it’s okay, because Lance is ambitious and doesn’t give up, so when it’s time to finally take the test in front of everyone, he forgets they’re watching—it’s just him in the simulator, and Shiro’s reassuring voice in his head. And guess what? He passes the test. When he exists the simulator he sees the other students cheer for him, as well as Shiro smiling approvingly. Lance doesn’t hesitate to run towards Shiro and hug the life out of him, whispering “thank you” endlessly into his ear with tears beginning to form in his eyes. They don’t care if everyone is giving them weird looks. Lance is beyond happy, and Shiro is very proud of him.
At the end of the day Shiro visits Lance’s dorm to praise him some more, and kisses him nonstop.
