"Looking at him, Alanna saw understanding. He knows, she thought. He knows about things like betrayal, and being afraid, and the looks on people's faces when they know you did something they thought impossible."

When I was little, I loved Alanna’s love interests! Now as I reread (and compare with the complete love given to aly/kel/daine) I cant stand it! The way Jon acts like he does her a favor by being with her. The way Liam acts condescending and hates and fears her magic, a huge part of her. Even George has his moments, though he admits when he takes advantage of her because her hands are full. I’m glad they’re the ending couple though, because all in all George respects her and loves her for all she is, and knows how to get the perfect balance of coddled and respected that Alanna craves. Why is it that I only notice these things now?
A list of the times Liam “Shang Dragon” Ironarm’s pursuit of Alanna the Lioness got on my nerves:
1. The entirety of the pursuit
2. Every single time he spoke to her
3. During Lioness Rampant
4) THE TIME WITH THE DRESS! NO REASON! NO DANGER, NO FEAR TO EXPLAIN IT, JUST HIM BEING MEAN FOR NO REASON AND NOT EVEN APOLOGIZING EVEN THOUGH HE CLEARLY REALIZED HE MESSED UP
Well...not that much longer...

Liam Ironarm aka. "The Shang Dragon" : MIchael Fassbender
"His eyes were blue-green in a tan, pockmarked face. His hair was as copper as hers, clipped short. His nose had met with several hard objects. A moustache framed his sensual mouth; his jaw was heavy. He was in excellent fighting condition: broad shoulders, powerful chest, hard waist, heavily muscled limbs." - Lioness Rampant, pg.10
Lioness Rampant Dream Cast: Kevin McKidd (Grey's Anatomy, Rome, Kingdom of Heaven) as Liam Ironarm/the Shang Dragon.
Ginger? Check.
Appealing face? Check check.
Overall just a badass? Aye, aye.
Bonus points for the Scottish accent. My headcanon!Liam has a distinct brogue, as Tammy describes him as sounding like a Northerner.
30 Days of Tamora Pierce
Day 15: Least Favourite Relationship
I`d have to say the Shang Dragon and Alanna. He tried to put her in a box, which honestly no one ever fits nicely into this organized little box. He didn't like that she wore dresses and was girly and not always dressed in breeches. Plus he never accepted the fact that she had magic, I get that it scared him and she did try to compensate for that but he ultimately was scared of a huge part of her and felt that her magic was like a crutch. And then there was that whole thing where he refused to let her leave to go find the dominion jewel. No Faithful shouldn't have put him to sleep but he also had no right to tell her not to do it. Okay it did seem like it would be a fatal attempt but did no one think that maybe that was the challenge to get the jewel? I still sort of like them together but I have issues with him. On the one hand he does sort of support Alanna and he does love her but on the other hand there are things he refuses to accept about her, or things that ruin his preconceived notion of her, which bothers him and he never really gets over.
