Yeah and it plays into the fact that this is something that Kara needs to choose for herself. If she's not willing to out herself to someone (for whatever reason, be it trust or maybe wanting to keep them safe or have a part of her life not connected to that), then she shouldn't have to. Just saying. It's like saying that an lgbt person owes it to someone else to out themselves to them just because they're in a position of power or trust.

It makes me extremely uncomfortable rewatching those episodes as well! You're definitely not alone in it! As much as I think Cat Grant is a great character, that type of abuse just eats at me and I'm just like NOPE whenever I'm re-watching those eps and those parts.

This is why I could never truly get behind supercat. She was downright abusive at times. If she had been played by a man or god forbid a woman of color, fans would have been in an uproar--it's only bc she's a pretty white woman that she gets away with it.
Yeah, it was just painful on the rewatch because poor Kara’s nearly in tears in several different scenes and she clearly has no idea what to do or who to turn to for help. Can you imagine her trying to report that to HR? “CatCo’s CEO thinks I’m a flying space alien and she won’t leave me alone about it.” They’d laugh her out the door. She’s alone with this problem and she’s vulnerable because of it, and Cat knows it.
The crap that goes down 1x08 and 1x09 is an abuse of power, and of Kara’s trust. The CEO of a huge company corners their 24-year-old assistant alone after hours and tosses out insinuations that clearly make said employee nervous and uncomfortable? They then demand said young employee remove something she’s wearing? They persist in making accusations for days, to the point of gathering the employee’s personal records dating back to her early childhood and springing an ambush of invasive questions on her that have nothing to do with her job? And then they refuse to accept any of the answers, accuse their employee of lying, and give her an ultimatum that boils down to “tell me what I want to hear or you’re fired”??????
Everything about that is inappropriate.
It’s also eerily reminiscent of some of the stories that have come out of the whole #MeToo movement, which makes the fandom double standard here even more cringeworthy.
