Buddha
When crows find a dying snake, They behave as if they were eagles. When I see myself as a victim, I am hurt by trifling failures.
Shantideva
Eğer bir şeye çare varsa mutsuz olmaya ne gerek var? Eğer bir şeye çare yoksa mutsuz olmak ne işe yarar?
Once again saved from a 2 am anxiety spiral by my bestie Shantideva and his "if there is a solution, what is the point of dejection? What is the point of dejection if there is no solution?" Litany against 2 am anxiety. To me it's the mental equivalent of sternly saying "drop it" to my brain like it's a dog that's chewing up my slippers.
If there's a solution, what's the point of sitting there stressing? Do the thing! And if there's nothing you can do about it, what's the point of sitting there stressing? It's a waste of energy!
As lightning flashes for an instant in a night darkened by masses of clouds, in the same way the world could once recognize acts of merit for an instant through the help of the Buddhas. Therefore the good is always weak; in contrast, the power of evil is great and terrible. What other good can overcome it if there were not the spirit of complete awakening? It is precisely this benefit that the Great Sages have found in their age-long explorations, because the fully developed bliss [of buddhahood] quite easily causes the vast flood of beings to leap out [of the ocean of suffering]. Those who long to overcome the hundred-fold suffering of existence, who wish to remove evil from all beings and enjoy multitudinous bliss, must never give up the spirit of awakening (bodhicitta). The wretch who is tied to the cycle of existence is instantly proclaimed a son of the Buddhas as soon as the spirit of awakening has arisen in him and he is worthy of veneration in the worlds of human and celestial beings.
Shantideva, Bodhicaryavatara 1:5-9
Wisdom of Śāntideva (8th Century monk)
"When happiness is dear to me and to others equally, what is so special about me that I strive after happiness only for myself?"
--
"All the happiness there is in this world arises from wishing others to be happy.
All the suffering there is in this world arises from wishing only oneself to be happy."
May I become an island for those seeking dry land A lamp for those needing light, A place to rest for those who desire one, And a servant for those needing service.
Shantideva, “May I Become an Island" (Tricycle)
Bodhicaryāvatāra ~ The Way Of The Bodhisattva by Shantideva
One of my favorite books.

May I be a protector to those without protection, A leader for those who journey, And a boat, a bridge, a passage For those desiring the further shore.
May the pain of every living creature Be completely cleared away. May I be the doctor and the medicine And may I be the nurse For all sick beings in the world Until everyone is healed.
Just like space And the great elements such as earth, May I always support the life Of all the boundless creatures.
And until they pass away from pain May I also be the source of life For all the realms of varied beings That reach unto the ends of space.
— Shantideva
