Logging into a decades old account, you hadn't expected a notification from someone having updated a quiz from your teen years.

If you're honest, you'd expected to see your mutuals accounts inactive or deactivated, not still updating and posting. Clicking onto the quiz you laugh at the title 'Build your perfect partner!!1!' the description had all the old text typing quirks and the emojis made from keyboard inputs, ascii art, it had them all. Clicking into the quiz you smile at the old school disclaimer of how this was 100% legit and you would get the partner of your dreams after taking it.

You feel like a teenager all over again, clicking the answers and watching the unrelated reaction pictures load in on each question, once the quiz was over your cheeks hurt from reading the blurb about your 'true chosen partner!!!1!' that was going to find their way into your life in some anime-style plot point meeting in the coming days, months, or year.

Satisfied with the nostalgia kick you leave your laptop on the coffee table in your home, turning in for the night and having fond thoughts of what your time online used to be.

However, brewing on the other side of that little quiz was an overjoyed creature, kicking its newly morphed feet and practically vibrating with the possibility of finding someone that will want it! The results of the latest and only quiz taken on the account it took over are up on the screen, reading the description of the person you were destined to be with, it began the slow work of making itself look that way, practising in the mirror how to speak in the described way as well.

Some day soon it will enact the destined meeting, accidentally spilling their drink on you and offering to buy you a new one or get you a whole new shirt! It would be perfect and you'd fall right into its arms!

Now, it simply has to find its way to you, but if hijacking an account was so easy perhaps getting your account details and information would be too? The barely held together human face already begins to form seams and additional features as excitement over takes it, a new chapter is starting!

It will finally have someone just for itself!

winter woods | twilight x reader!

You walked through the cold Washington woods in a big winter coat, enjoying the snow. It was times like these where you were grateful that you were a shapeshifter and not an actual werewolf. Anyone who shifted and then changed back to human in this weather would be crazy. Luckily, you didn’t have to worry about that. the sound of joints popping sounded like twigs snapping, followed by bones moving and crunching. Adrenaline was pumping through your already caffeine-filled veins as you shifted into your wolf form.

Pack’s POV:

“Sam, the boys are fighting again!” Leah groaned in annoyance. “Well it’s not our fault that Emily won’t let us go outside!” Sam chuckled at Embry’s response. Leah turned to look where the sound had come from, but found Sam with a blank look on his face. “Embry, Paul, Leah, it’s your lucky day.” “What’s wrong Sam? Something’s up if you’re defying Emily’s orders.” Paul and Embry let out a small laugh, but kept their eyes on Sam, waiting for him to explain. “something’s in the woods... I don’t know what it is, but it’s like us.”With that, Sam stood up and The three others follows him out back to the woods.

“Woah, what is that smell?” “It’s probably it.” “Uh guys, I don’t think it’s an it... I would say them...” The boys turned to look in Leah’s direction and they saw white/gray wolf with flecks of brown in their coat. Needless to say, both parties were surprised to see each other. But before the group could ask the stranger any questions, they turned around and fled.

“Hey Sam. I just got off the phone with Bella, they’re ok but turns out they smelled something too.” “Well at least we know they’re most likely harmless, but what are they? and what are they doing here?” Sam paused for a second, sensing something. “Jake go to the kitchen with the rest of the pack, I’ll be back inside in a minute.” Sam looked around, trying to find the source of the smell. Suddenly he saw something move in the trees nearby. A girl emerged from the woods. A girl?! “Hey.”

“Woah what’s that smell?! Who the he- woah.”

“Everyone, i’d like you to meet Y/N. Y/N, this is my pack, and my lovely wife Emily.” “Uh, hi everyone.”

Y/N’s POV:

You and Emily became quick friends, after you offered to help her cook and bake food for Leah and the boys. “Y/N this is really good!” “Yeah!” you giggled in response. “Thanks!” “So what did you say you were?” “Embry!” Leah smacked him in the head. “What?” “It’s ok,” You laughed and smiled at Leah, reassuring her. “Uh i’m a shapeshifter like you guys, but i’m not a werewolf. i’m a witch...” Y/N hesitated, waiting for their response, but she was met with a series of “woah!’s” and “cool!’s” She too a breath she didn’t realized she was holding in, and sighed happily. Maybe she did belong here. “Wait so how do you shift?” “Pretty much the same as you guys, but my clothes just sort of, disappear and reappear?” You replies with a small laugh. “Dude! I wish was the same for us! then we wouldn’t have to spend so much money on new clothes!” “It’s a pain ripping your clothes so much.” “Yeah I bet!” You looked around at everyone, interested, and happy. Your eyes landed on Leah. Hey boys, can I talk to Leah for a sec?” Jacob responded with a “yeah” and started a conversation with the others at the table. You gave Jacob a smile as a “thanks” and he returned it. Leah and you walked outside to get some peace and quiet. “Leah, i’m not trying to replace you as one of the only girls here.” “What?” “I’m an empath, I pick up on other people’s feelings. It’s ok you don’t have to hide.” Leah suddenly gave you a hug, which surprised you, but you definitely welcomed it. “This is a bit awkward,” “Yeah I get it, it’s not always easy to be called out on your feelings.” Leah gave a chuckle. “Yeah but thanks Y/N.” “Anytime Leah.” You exchanged smiles and went back inside. “Good thing you girls got in here when you did.” “What’s wrong? He'd been in here for forty five minutes, adjusting his nose, the shape of his eyes, adding piercings, pointed ears, splitting his tongue, adding fangs, long hair, buzz cut, six pack, dad bod, powerlifter physique, taller, shorter, slim waist, broad shoulders, nothing felt right!

He needed to make sure this form held up to your wants and needs, he needed to keep you with him! He loved you too much to let you slip away because some random human got the better of him and had a better natural form than him. He knew it wasn't all looks that got you to date him, but it was looks that could keep you around, or so he thought... Did he need to change his personality? Smarter? Dumber? Did you want a sniveling fool? Or a chipper puppy style person?

He could feel himself melting a little, sitting on the closed toilet lid, fingers shifting between long and spindly things and thicker strong ones, he'd chewed his lip raw and fixed it in an instant.

You'd be home soon, he needed to get this perfect now or you're gonna be mad at him for not knowing what you wanted! Stepping up to the mirror again he shifts back to the beginning form he had, making his canine teeth just a little pointed not fangs but just enough, hair a touch longer than before, and adding a touch of dark circles below his eyes, this should be good, these things you liked on others before, on characters from your games, so on him you should like them!

The jingle of keys and clicking of the lock breaks him out of his spiral, opening the bathroom door and stepping out as you come in carrying bags to the kitchen, giving him a muffled hello as you dump everything on the counter and sigh loudly afterwards. The weight off you now as you turn and look at him, smiling as you reach out ruffling his hair and asking if he was trying something new, humming slightly before telling him if he liked it then so did you, after all it was him you loved.

Something in him both preens and cracks at your words, you loved him and you noticed he'd changed but you didn't tell him if you liked it or not.

Oh well, there is always the time while you slept to try again, he will be perfect for you! He will...

Blunt human teeth become fangs and then tusks, gnashing and clenched together as they can't control the changes taking them over. They grow horns, lose them in the blink of an eye, claws, fingernails, spines, spikes, ridges and strange curling patterns that texture their skin, it's like every feature they have ever shifted to molts through, surfacing beige being subsumed by another feature taking its place seconds later, it shouldn't be this hard to keep themselves together, it shouldn't.

Yet the moment you coo and tell them to keep going, to keep fucking you, they can't help it, whining in several pitches and tones as they keep moving, humping and thrusting uselessly into you, body shuddering with changes it can't help but let run rampant.

He knows what people want, how they want him to look, act, speak, and even how they think he will react. It's part of his nature as a shapeshifter, he gets into their lives, their stories, always just what they want or need when he finally gets around to them...

And then there you.

He's been trying for months! Months! To try and get you to let him into your life, to give him even a smidge of an idea about what you're into, what kind of person you wanted and yet, at every chance he gets a completely different answer or reaction! He's tried the soft, sweet type with sweaters and pins of cute animals and show characters, been edgy bad boys with leather jackets and spoke adornments, every subculture and style he could think of he'd tried with you but none have hit the mark with you!

How!? How was he meant to get you to like him? He was so used to being beloved and adored yet you won't so much as flutter your lashes at him when he comes by with a new face, new style, or even a new full shape!

He'd not had a chase like this in years, not since he had first found enjoyment in chasing and worming his way into human worlds and love life's! Settling on his couch at home he can't help but go scrolling through your socials again, looking for something, anything that will give away what you may want from a partner, some little clue or key that can finally get him in, something that is usable to a creature like him. Halfway down your page was a selfie of the two of you, one of the faces he'd tried to get close with weeks ago, you'd been so sweet to him then, really he'd thought he had it right that time and then it fell through...

He saves the picture without thinking about why, but somewhere in the back of his mind he knows why, the longer the chase goes on, the more he feels like this will be the last hunt for a face.

Maybe you'll be the one he settles with, the one that accepts him and all his faces...

Choosing to live in the middle of nowhere has its benefits, and its complications, especially when it comes to medical issues...

So it's no surprise that when you actually need to visit a doctor the clinic is very bare bones, just a small reception area and a few scattered chairs. Your pretty sure most of the couches in here were either donated or gathered from hard rubbish around town, not that you cared, the one your sinking into is blissfully cool and soft, a much needed respite from the slow building fever you're here about.

The receptionist is an older lady you know well from the cafe in town, on Sundays she sits and reads there with her tea, so when she calls your name you smile weakly and follow her to the second exam room. Slumping onto the old padded table or bench? You're not actually sure, but it's cold, smells like disinfectant and stale air, all together not something your complaining about as you wait for the doctor to join you. It doesn't take long before he is going you, but as you squint at him you can't recall ever seeing this particular person before, you know there is only two doctors and two nurses in town, but still a new face is strange.

As he sweeps into the room you can't quite place what it is about him that is off putting, but there is this air of inhumanity about him. It starts with a flash of too sharp teeth, then a flicker of slit pupils on almost reddish brown eyes, but nothing stays long enough that you can't think it's due to your fever.

The thermometer hangs from your lips as he talks a mile a minute, questions about your health, your lifestyle, and your flesh? He laughs when you look confused, flapping his hand as he remarks about human jokes and riddles not landing right in this age, before pulling the thermometer from your mouth and reading the numbers before shoving between his own lips. As fever addled you are, you still know that is not normal or okay for a doctor to do, so as you open your mouth to speak he quickly cuts you off, two gloved fingers press down on your tongue as he looks inside your mouth and down your throat.

You grunt at him, confused as he remarks about how warm humans are, and how fruitful you will be for what's coming.

The taste of his glove lingers as you push his wrist away, glaring as best you can at him, trying to find a moment to cut in on his rambling as he scribbled something down on a prescription pad and handed it to you. Throwing the door to the room open and standing with his hands on his hips like he had actually done something good in the last thirty minutes, rather than ramble and poke at you in very unprofessional ways, he waves as you walk away, calling out that he will see you in a week's time.

At the reception desk you ask when the old doctor you saw will be back, only to be told that he had retired and for the next few months only the doctor you saw today will be available here, and if you wanted someone else you'd have to go into the city two hours away. Sighing you reluctantly book for the follow up, taking the small cup of cold water she offers you, sipping on it as you try to make sense of the scribbled writing on the prescription paper.

You don't think that man was a doctor, and this definitely isn't a prescription…

Could I request shapeshifter getting jealous and trying to perfectly replicate a neighbor they think we have a crush on?

They'd seen it all, the looks, the laughter, the offers to spend time together, all of it.

Every word, act, moment, was burned into their mind as they seethed over how you were getting to the random human that lived next door. Weren't they enough? Didn't you like them as they were? Soon, a new thought began to fester, one that made their tongue feel heavy and their mouths taste like ash.

Did you have a crush on them?

The idea made something under their skin crawl; they had thought the two of you had grown close, had begun to bind in a way that was leading to a relationship, a real, true relationship... Was it all a lie? Was he missing something? What did this stranger have that they didn't? Was it the looks? The height? The lack of an uncanny feeling when you're around them? What about them kept you making those offers?

It's fine, clearly they are the standard you're looking for, and so all they need to do is borrow their form and adjust a few things to work their way back to that standard you're now seeking.

Thankfully, he had snapped a few photos of your neighbour, standing in front of his mirror; it's easy to shift and push at his shape till it matches the photos he had captured. He left some pieces of his old form mixed in, just to let you know it was still him, but all else, he knows he looks just like that pest of a neighbour. With this, he knows you'll look only at him.

Now things will be right, this will be as they should.
