Her slick fingers push into his hole, and Shane gasps into the pillow. She keeps pushing, rubbing her fingers into the sides of him, stretching him out. Her fingers feel bigger than he thought, and her nails aren't scratching into him like they did when they were on his chest. It feels good, familiar.
"I think you're ready," Rose says, "on your knees." Shane wants to protest that it usually takes longer, but when she presses inside of him there is no resistance to be found.
🌸Cherry Blossom: How does your character feel about death? Have they experienced a lot of loss in their life?
OH SHIT HI I DIDN'T FULLY FORGET ABOUT THIS UNTIL NOW
Anyway hi thaanks <3
I feel like Syn is low hanging fruit here considering their ending but also;
for shapeshifters death isn't so much - so the young shapeshifters, the ones just setting out, they don't think of death as death; it's the end of their journey, it's returning home, it's going back to the bulk of themselves and sharing everything they've learnt, and becoming part of a whole again.
For the older shapeshifters, who've been away long enough to be their own people (Syn, the actor cohort I still haven't named but it's fine they haven't appeared on page yet), returning home is way more death as we know it; that's the end of them, baby!! When they return, they will no longer be the sum of where they've been and loved and learnt. They'll just be a small part of the whole, inconsequential except for the knowledge-without-feeling of the outside world that they brought back.
So Syn in their... ooh I can't remember how many years I said it had been - anyway, they haven't experienced much loss (yet) but like. they're aware of the concept as others understand it.
Obviously, the biggest loss they've experienced (technically) is the moment they were sent out and the companionship of being All One Mass in the shapeshifter conglomerate (have I given that a proper name? unlikely) just sort of. Stopped.
that was fun for them :3 Truly alone for the first time, and what do they do?
Decide it's the best feeling ever and run away for as long as they can, of course*
yes excellent ok page 126 is a shapeshifter wip page! It's Halliel's "Blowing Off Steam" chapter/scene (in red ink) which is perchance a bit of a misnomer right now but it's whatever :3
Ketch nodded, zir gaze straying back to the book in zir hands. Ze placed a finger on the page and looked up again. "The new liaison for Hult starts today, do they not?"
Halliel nodded. "Winter. Silver just brought him up."
Ketch nodded again.
Halliel smiled slightly. "I didn't mean to disturb you, Ketch, it's fine."
"It's going to feel strange with someone else at their desk."
"Still quieter."
Ketch let out a small laugh. "Like I said; strange."
Ooh you want to send me a number between 1 and 174 so bad.
"How early tomorrow?" Wyn asked, a sly look on her face.
Syn suppressed a snort. "Late afternoon."
"Oh, plenty of time to sleep off getting shit-faced," Wyn replied. "There now."
"That's still not a direct answer," Idris said.
Cadfael patted at their arm. "I'd almost think you didn't want them along. For the sake of winning a bet? For shame, Idris."
Syn fought back their smile, their... Syn-like urge to join in the teasing. It wouldn't be in character.
tagging @anotheranonymousquill, @the-nexverse, @writingamongther0ses if you'd like?
📝 List 5 things your antagonist/villain has definitely googled. No context. Let the chaos speak for itself.
mm need to work out who counts as an antagonist lmao. I think the closest? we have in Shapeshifter wip is probably [the bastard spoiler] bc alright sure tensions between the countries etc but frankly the part that fucked 'em up was Syn's family sitch. So.
normal getting to know you questions
how to get people to like you
how to convince someone to go home
best way to alienate someone from their friends
formal terms of address for visiting royalty
anyway hi yeah uhhhh @bloodmoodtrash, @tracle0, @zmwrites you want to have a shot?
hey you want some syn-shenanigans? synanigans, as it were? This is. definitely not the next scene on the list but also what if I did simply just mess around with Syn "no I'm definitely a professional", Syn "this is me in a work setting", Syn "If I act like I'm having fun they'll never see through the ruse"
anyhow I do think some of this has been used for tags and it's still not a whole scene but here. Syn doing what Syn does best?
~~
Each cafe along the walls had a balcony for Angelics to land on; Syn made use of the one they needed, landing gracefully if a touch flashily with two quick steps and a turn to settle their clothes back into order.
They were, Syn thought, going to miss Armoniel's wings.
"It's alright," they said, as one of the waitstaff came to meet them as they stepped inside, "I'm meeting someone, they should already be - ah, there they are." They smiled, catching sight of Cedar sitting alone at a table in the corner.
Cedar folded away their paper as Syn dropped into the seat opposite them. "I'm afraid I've already ordered."
"That doesn't sound like you've ordered for me."
Cedar stifled their smile. "I wouldn't want your food to go cold while it was waiting."
"Well you see the trick there is to order something that's already cold. Or room temperature," Syn said, as Cedar opened their mouth. "Or I just steal part of yours." They grinned. "I can't stay long, anyway. I'm going up in the world, I'm a hot commodity, I'm-"
"Armoniel." Cedar's sigh was like music to Syn's ears.
"Yes?" They poured themself a glass of water and sipped it, watching Cedar over the rim.
"You can't stay long?"
"I caught a promotion," Syn replied, "which necessitates moving into the castle itself, and longer hours and fewer days off - you know, now I think about it, that's terrible. Damn. The things we do, right?"
Cedar was trying not to laugh. "For the paycheck, I assume."
"It is a juicy paycheck." Syn hummed. "Almost makes it all worthwhile, really."
"So you're paying for lunch?" Cedar lifted their paper from the table as the waiter came back with their plates.
"Not since you didn't order for me." Syn shook their head at the waiter's enquiring look. "It's fine, thank you, I don't need the menu. I'll come over and look at the cakes in a bit."
Cedar laughed. "So you won't be able to make our lunches any longer."
"So you really should have got me something for our last one." Syn leant over and nabbed a chip before Cedar could coat them in vinegar. "But I understand. I'm not mad about it. We will simply have to be as rats in the night, chasing each other's tails."
"Rats in the night," Cedar echoed.
Syn nodded, sneaking another chip from the edges. They suspected Cedar had left those ones without vinegar intentionally, but to point it out would ruin the game.
ugh wanting to drop in more shapeshifters so Syn and [the bastard spoiler] aren't like. Immediate outliers but hey, why did I make their naming scheme tricky? Why did I do that
