So what this guy is talking about is a phenomenon we call time compression. Quite frankly, humans have a hard time handling the details for anything older than 200 or 300 years , so we OVER SIMPLIFY.

And that over simplification lead people to misattribute visuals/information to different time periods. Heilung's aesthetic is HUGELY compressed, with mesolithic Starr Carr and Viking Age Norse (a 10,000 year gap in time and a geographical distance of 1500+ miles between cultural groups) occupying the same stage. Its misleading, but many groups appropriate archaeological information to create a compressed, easy to understand images to convey what They Want To Say. Not things as they actually were.

So my pagan and witchy friends beware. Your ancestors were exceptionally complex and their worlds were unique to their time periods. Dont clump em all together into a junk drawer image. They are so much richer than that.
