One of the largest things I miss after moving was, not just friends, but sitting down to eat with them. Not eat at the same time, but with them--the same food, songs, and fellowship. That is wealth.

The food on the splash page looks fabulous - what kind of fish is that please tell me all about it if you can

The dish is called Kamayan! It’s a Filipino feast served on banana leaf and often eaten with your hands. Kamayan can be any kind of shared meal, but this one included seasoned half chickens, crispy pork belly, a whole cooked white fish, and lumpia served over garlic rice. There was hot sauce, vinegar, soy sauce, and banana catsup on the side for dipping. I believe the fish is just a variety of bream since it’s widely available!

This was served to me at a Filipino restaurant called Perla in Philadelphia, but if you live in a major city or anywhere with a lot of Filipinos you might be able to find a good spot near you. I highly recommend getting a big group of friends together for this kind of meal! Just remember to bring Tupperware - the meal in the photo was just for 2 of us!
