288. Shattered ice
Naruto almost face planted into the desk he was writing a report when the door opened, he was sleeping over. The teen yawned softly as he looked over to the eldest son of the Uchiha clan. “Welcome back, Itachi…” Naruto greeted. “Sasuke is already sleeping…tried his best to wait for you...” He mumbled pointing out cold child. “Just trying to finish this report…How was your mission?” ((Au where Itachi and Naruto are the same age?? And friends?? And Naruto helps babysit Sasuke sometimes...))
It was almost eleven thirty at night at night when Itachi was spotted walking down the hallway that led to the Hokage’s office, when the Uchiha finally arrived at the office he quietly opened the door peeking inside to see that Naruto was still sitting at the desk probably working on a report.Itachi was going to give his friend a few more minutes to finish up what he was doing before stepping inside but when he heard the blonde welcome him home he didn’t hesitate on stepping inside the office. As Itachi approached the desk with a scroll in his hand he heard the Hokage explain that Sasuke tried his best to wait up for him to return and asked how his mission went.”It went alright…I had a few step backs here and there but other then that the mission was a success.”he explained while sitting the scroll that had a more discripted details on how his mission had went.Slowly the Uchiha’s eyes drifted towards the sleeping form of his younger brother who was sleeping peacfully on the couch at the otherside of the room.Itachi smiled gently at Sasuke before turning back to look at Naruto again.”Thanks…again for looking after Sasuke while I was gone.”he said with a smile.”I hope he wasn’t any trouble?”

A surprised yelp left him as he was sent flying. He let out a pained groan when he was finally stopped by hitting something with his back. “Wh-What the hell was that for, baka?!” Sasuke yelled after the blonde as he sat himself up, not sure why Naruto would throw him off like that.

Minato waited until the little ball of fur and feathers had landed safely before setting down the bowl and reaching up with his other hand to inspect the paint smears on the little creature, touch gentle and firm.
“You know he’s right,” he told the little wolpertinger. “If this dries on you, it will be even more of a mess to get off and it might stick your feathers together.” Gentle he rubbed the fur of the animal’s cheeks while he spoke. Then he looked down at his son.
“I thought I would make pancakes for lunch. We can add jam to them and powdered sugar if you want. I’ve got lemon cake in the oven cooking. Your mother’s old recipe.”
Lowering his hand, he offered the little orange companion back to his son.
“No sassing,” he warned the wolpertinger. “My son is right. Let him take care of you.” He offered both of them a smile. “And when you’re done, we’ll have lunch!”

"Daddy! Asha being mean." Narumi pouted softly helplessly watching the wolpertinger whom was currently flying around. The boy was trying to bathe her after she had gotten in his painting supplies. "I can't catch her..." He huffed softly too short to reach the small orange furred, blue eyes, winged, horned bunny. Everyone had a wolpertinger companion except Asha, the daughter of his parent's wolpertingers' was not very good as listening, sassy and bossy to him.//Thought you might enjoy this AU
Minato glanced up, pausing his stirring as he caught sight of first his son and then his son’s wizzing companion. Minato’s own wolpertinger was currently on the kitchen counter, all dignity - if you didn’t count the parsley sprig sticking out of its mouth or the measuring spoon it had hanging from one onxy horn. Whistling softly, Minato held up his wrist, hand in a loose fist for the small fluttering ball of orange that had followed his son into the kitchen.
“What’s Asha done, Narumi?”
