I think Brainstorm has… whatsit… “latent processor damage” from the whole mushroom debacle. That or he hit his head realllly hard, because he can’t remember the last, oh, three years? I need you both pretty please to come down here and stand next to each other so he knows I’m not having him on.

Infiltration

You'd be amazed how easy it is to sneak into the Lost Light with nothing but a set of coordinates in the general neighborhood, a space bridge, and knowledge of where the access hatches are.

... and half a broken sword, and a blowtorch, and magna clamps, and a jury-rigged fire extinguisher jet pack—

The exact tools don't matter. What does matter is that Getaway is on the Lost Light.

He sticks to (what he clearly assumes to be) the lesser-used and lesser-monitored corridors. It's the middle of the night; traffic is minimal. Several times during the multi-mile trek to his destination, he ducks through service shafts, maintenance tunnels, and even a couple of vents. But he navigates the ship, to all appearances successfully undetected.

... Until he reaches the science lab, where he attempts to unlock the door with a tool kit he found in one of the maintenance shafts.

[Upon returning to the hab, with the Family- there are new scents. Sulfur and solvent, the strange medical smells... and the shattered remains of limbs on the floor. They smell like Mimi, look like Mimi- and she crawls from the other room, chiming Sparkles's name... her legs gone from mid thigh down.]

[at first, he panics — his Mimi is broken]

[but after a moment’s careful sniffing and inspecting, it turns out she is not broken. her legs are missing, yes, but there’s no more leaking energon, and she’s a strange sort of optimistic grumpy that settles his nerves immediately]

[also, the Percy-friend that stinks of disinfectant is here, so that’s all right. he takes Mimi’s scruff in his mandibles so that they can both get around without putting pressure on her legs]
