Anathema's Cloaking Device?

I was thinking about this today - the scene where they hit Anathema cycling in the dark:

"You've hit someone," [Aziraphale] said. "No, I haven't," said Crowley. "Someone hit me."

It occurred to me that Crowley is indeed correct. Both he and the Bentley would never hit anyone or anything unless they did so deliberately.

Look at the incident in the book where Crowley tried to run over a hedgehog - but the Bentley doesn't allow it, basically, and the hedgehog lives another day. I'm pretty sure they work together as a team when on the road to miss all the wayward pedestrians and other vehicles in the way.

So how did neither of them "see" Anathema coming? She literally flew out of left field like the witch she was to collide with the car.

(I'm excusing Aziraphale here, he obviously has little road sense, and was greatly distracted by Adam's protective shield of love he could sense over Tadfield at the time.)

I don't have an answer at the moment, actually. I thought I might put it out to the rest of you for your thoughts.
