Something about Eva claiming that actually, its not hard at all for her to ask people to kill themselves to save the earth vs her tearing up and pleading with Grace to please make it easier for her when the time comes for him to go die to save the earth

A small Eva Stratt Analysis, specifically of this line....
This line could be interpreted as her equating that ‘no connections to humanity, doesn't make your life worth living’, but that's a rather surface level interpretation and would be hypocritical, if that was the case. Eva Stratt is not seen at any point to talk about any family, a dog, nor does she actively try to start friendships (as seen in the karaoke scene, where, as confirmed by directors, is when Ryland Grace basically asks to be friends and Eva Stratt denies it). Even then, she equates her life, as well as Grace’s life, and many others, worth living, for the sake of living. This statement, in turn, if we look at the context, is Eva Stratt being annoyed at Ryland Grace being a coward. Ryland Grace, before she had stated this line, was making excuses upon excuses, as to why he couldn't join, and they were very clearly irrational. Stratt says this line, not to say his life doesn't hold value, but a meaning of “you’re hiding behind a wall of excuses that will run out, because you're too scared to save humanity.”
She believes in Ryland Grace, but is deeply insulted by him being a coward. This is shown to be a mild annoyance at the start, when she first meets the man, and says “I think you're running away because you're scared,” (or something along those lines), to when asking Grace if he'd like to be a part of the project (though it's minor), she says “I need someone who thinks they're better than everyone else!” Towards the end, where it becomes an insult to not only her but humanity as a whole. She knows that Dr. Grace can do amazing things, there's a reason he stayed for so long, so when Dubois and Shapiro died, Grace opted to hide away rather than save humanity? She expected that, of course, but she was still insulted.
Of course, Stratt is absolutely aware she betrayed Grace in some way. She's the world’s scapegoat, and was sent to jail for life after the launch, to which she broke out (Andy Weir had confirmed this iirc) when the Beatles landed. She has accepted that she will be hated, as long as humanity will be saved. She knows that Ryland Grace would never forgive her, she gave up her grace to be hated by the world. It will haunt her for her entire life. Not much you can do when you're the world's whipping boy.

the trolley problem except the guy tied to one set of tracks is your friend and someone you trust and one of the few people in the world that you genuinely like and he's begging for his life and he's saying that you're murdering him and he's screaming and clawing and running like a wild animal. on the other set of tracks is every living thing on the planet. its a no brainer, obviously. but he will still scream. this happened to my good friend eva stratt
