This is RE: the opium trade (just on the cusp of the Opium Wars)

Erica hated full moons, which sucked because she wanted to love them. She locked herself away in the Hale house and it wasn’t because she was afraid she’d randomly attack people, it was because of the way the moon’s pull amplified some kind of sleeper agent within her. It had been months, now--several moons, and she still couldn’t get a handle on it. She’d thought Peter would help, but he had only managed to identify what it was that was happening to her. In the months since, she’d tried to avoid it, especially after what happened when she accidentally ripped out Talia’s neck. She knew her compulsion to follow orders hadn’t let up because instead of retaliating with a smart alek remark after hearing: “Erica, go away,” she actually went away.
But it was fine. It was whatever. So long as she stayed in the woods and away from people, she could make it through the night. Fully shifted, she made her way through the trees, keeping her mind open and a good view of the sky. It used to be her anchor--the one thing tying her to her humanity because it represented freedom. Now it represented the freedom she couldn’t have. An endless void of possibility she couldn’t dive into because she was stuck. Keeping an ever-vigilant ear out for hunters, Erica wove through the trees as she made her way to the cliffs. Once she reached the open air and saw Beacon Hills laid out before her with only half as many lights as it should, There was, surprisingly, no bloodlust in her wolf--only wanderlust. Without an anchor to keep her human, she didn’t stop to think about being quiet. It was much easier to give in and let the wolf take control as she let out a long and lowly howl.
It probably means nothing ('cause i don't even know what to expect from this show except to be awesome), but it itches me how, in an episode ENTERELY focused LEAVING the Circus, it shows us how adapted Pomni is at this point.
I mean yeah, first she tried to hold her breath underwater and came to the surfice to refill, but then she remembered she doesn't really need to breath. And she can totally talk to those messy rendered fish.
Plus, i love she went from "why do i want your treasure?" to "they beat me to it".
just... the leap of logic there kills me and its completely on spot with the Circus.
....ALSO (and again, this probably doesn't mean anything), but it bothers me the mixed reactions to Pomni's mostly logical conclusion that there MAY be more about the buttons.
like how Zooble feels out of the loop, maybe even kinda betrayed because, "hey, its OBVIOUS this is what we want!"
while Ragatha is, well, she looks like she's about to break but i don't know if it's because she's suspicious about the buttons.. or because she suspects Pomni doesn't want to leave
and its not that i think Pomni wants to, like, STAY in the Circus.
quite the opposite, as the newby, she has more reason to leave than everyone else.
but she knows the Circus is messed up, she's gotten used to it, the way it works, maybe a little more than others that have been there before because, being new, she can see patterns that others don't, and she's also a very practical and insightful person.
so, yeah, frm Pomni POV, all the little pieces of the puzzle have been adding to something she can't decipher, so it just makes sense for her to not want to rush such a choice.
but from the others' POV, it seems as if Pomni didn't want to leave the circus and was just stalling them by blocking the buttons on purpose.
so... yeah, this episode lives rent free in my head.
Watching a show and someone said "every single day feels like a new day"... Well no shit. I feel like she may need to know that every 60 seconds in Africa, a minute passes.
