Philip always watched his two parents interact, watched as russell and sebastain laughed and hugged eachother, how much difference it is with his bio mother and step-dad
When he's with russell and seb, he feels precious, gotten pancakes and helped with home work, given painting and drawing supplies by sebastian he ruffles his hair, sticks everything philip draw on the fridge or frames
His biological mother, she knows she's busy, late shifts and a new partner that makes snarky comments, it's a contrast from when adler and she was married, but philip always know that she loved him
He's seen them russell and his mother interacted, how they would be loving, but they knew their works couldn't work out forever, divorce and custody shared between them, but they never fought, always kept things civil, and still stayed friends, for Philips sake
Philips mother step dad never likes that though, made snarky comments on adler being in a relationship with a man, but lil philip never made a comment
That was until philip was leaving for basic training, with the most stern adler looking face he could pull all venom In every syllable, called his stepdad out on it, he got a letter a few weeks later that his mother and stepdad split, and that was enough for him
