I am a sucker for guys wearing shirts and glasses. Why are you torturing me this way, Rosie? 😭
Sam walked over to Immogene while carrying a large box in her hands. She placed down the gift on the coffee table and slowly pushed it closer to the red hair woman before standing up straight. Arms folded behind as not knowing what else to do, but she gave a warm smile instead. “I heard it was your Birthday, Immogene?” The brunette slightly tilted her head curiously, thinking on her next words to say. “I wanted to get you a gift and in all honestly, I didn’t know what to get you at first. All I knew is I wanted to get you something for being a a kind friend as well.” She let out a small chuckle before a sigh slipped. Pushing aside some of the awkwardness. “But with my knowledge and love for clothing/fashion-I thought of something. That, and I have both your size and favorite color memorized so...”
“Feliz cumpleaños Miss Immogene. When me, along with a very good friend of mine, were helping design the jacket- had asked for the leather to be sturdy and durable to withstand a lot. So it doesn’t scratch that easily-even during a fight.” She gave her a bigger smile.
——————-
A wave of emotion washed through her as she looked between her friend and the large box. Sam was one of the people that had worked her way through the walls around her heart and earned a space permanently on the shelf within. “Sam!” Taking the box she set it on the table and unable to help herself she pressed a quicker than quick kiss on the woman’s cheek. “Yes, it is my birthday, but you shouldn’t have!” Turning to the table with a happy sound she lifted the lid.
A gasp left her lips and she lifted the jacket out it’s container. “Oh...oh my. You really shouldn’t have but boy, am I ever glad you did.” Wanting to try it on, Immogene pulled her light knit sweater over her head. Standing in her jeans and tank she slipped the coat on. “It goes on like silk.” Pulling up the zipper she grinned widely. “It also fits like a second skin.”
She bit her lip and met the other woman’s gaze. “You’ve got a keen eye, my friend. I absolutely love this.” Her smile softened. “You’re dear to me.” Immogene understood the woman’s slight awkwardness, but to her it was just...Sam. Not wanting to make her feel more uncomfortable she stretched in the leather feeling how it moved with her easily. With a slight glimmer in her eyes she smiled again. “Would you thank your, ‘very good friend of yours’, for me?” She had an inkling of who it was, but kept her thoughts to herself. That one could have their anonymity and she was more than fine with that understanding their nature as well. She would find some way to acknowledge it one day.
“I can’t wait to test this out!”

My grandma likes to tell me stories that people would tell her when she was younger and lived in the countryside. This is one of them:
There was a lady who lived in the countryside, in a big, white house full of spiders. She was a friend of them, and people say that wherever she went, they followed.
She didn't have any human friends, so she would spend all her time with her spiders.
One day, she got sick, and the townspeople took her to the hospital.
The doctors would everyday find spider webs covering her room, and decens of spiders everywhere. They would clean everything to find new spiderwebs at the minute.
Eventually, the sickness won the battle, and the lady died.
I'm the funeral, there were only eight legged friends, and a really scared priest. Apparently aracnophobic. He said whatever he needed to say and ran away. The spiders didn't.
For the next few years, the town didn't have any spiders whatsoever. They weren't anywhere, except in the cemetery. All surrounding the place where the lady rested.
