Tell me about Scars and/or Sigils! 👀👀👀
So, that title is actually the prompt, because the real title hasn’t revealed itself to me yet. The prompt/WIP is from 3½ years ago D: I started writing this one and stopped.
I went in the “scars” direction with the prompt, and it’s a Claire Novak POV one-shot written in second person. It’s about Kaia, and Claire’s relationship with her. Regular prose becomes poetic prose. I got some notes down, but then my brain was just like, I am tired X| (I’d recently written two other poetic prose pieces—one about our favorite brotherly duo, and one about Rowena—and it can be quite challenging!)
I really would like to pick this one back up again one day. In the meantime, here’s the beginning:
You’re buckled into the back seat, staring at the man crossing the street. “Claire,” your father says, and you meet his eyes in the rearview mirror. “Promise me you’ll never bring home a guy with tattoos.” “Okay, Daddy.” An easy promise to make, at eight. An even easier promise to keep, at twenty-three. Because your parents are dead, and because there’s no home anymore—not the same one, anyway. And because there’s no guy. Her skin is stamped with stigma, but her scars are tattoos she didn’t choose.
Thank you for the ask! ❤️
