The night sky was magnificent at this time of year. And this high up in the Rockies, Sam felt as though he could reach up and touch them. Feel as they wove through his fingers.Â
âWhatâcha thinkinâ âbout, Sam?âÂ
Deanâs voice was extra rough, as he leaned in and left a mark on Samâs inner thigh.Â
âHow I never want this to end.â
Sam sighed as those plush lips latched on, drew him deep inside.Â
âI thought you wanted to see something truly spectacular tonight.âÂ
Samâs voice was rougher now, but Dean looked up, smiled, âIâm looking right at it.â

The handprint had been getting bolder for a while, but Dean had never seen it this colour â not since the first time heâd pulled up his sleeve at that grimy gas station. He poked at the edge of the red skin with his finger, feeling the way that it raised up slightly from the rest of his shoulder. It didnât hurt, but it looked like it should.
Dean wiped away the condensation that had formed on the mirror from his shower and twisted his body slightly so he could see the mark better on his reflection.
He wondered if the permanent scar of his best friendâs handprint magically reappearing on his body should bother him, but it didnât really. It looked kind of badass.
Dean wiped away the condensation that had reformed.
Cas had big hands.
Long fingers.
Dean stared at it for a moment longer and then slowly brought his other hand up, hovering it over the mark.
The first time Castiel heard the phrase to 'kiss something better' he thought it sounded like a ridiculous notion.
How could a kiss heal a wound? Kisses held no magic. No power.
But Castiel found the phrase drifting back to him while he looked at Dean, hissing with pain as he wiped blood away from his grazed skin.
(Dean insisted on wearing jeans with useless intentional rips on the knees, so it felt inevitable that he would eventually scuff the skin there.) (Castiel had even told him so.) (Dean had told him to stop being such a nag.)
Strange how Castiel knew that there were no mystical properties to a kiss, and yet now it was all he could think about. He could sink to his knees and place his lips directly over the wound, letting his grace knit the flesh below. Or... he could grab a fistful of Dean's flannel and crush his lips to Castiel's own, walking them backwards until they hit the wall, bodies lined up, grace pouring in through their joined lips to thread down Dean's body to the injury and-
"Hey, Cas? You okay there, buddy?" Dean said, snapping Castiel out of his thoughts. His lips pulled up into a playful grin that actively grew as Castiel huffed and narrowed his eyes. "Y'kinda giving me a look like you might smite me or eat me."
"Your jeans are impractical," Castiel snapped in a deep rumble. He prodded Dean in the forehead with two fingertips - felt his grace seal the injury instantly - and disappeared with a hard flap of wings.
Dean canât remember when the dreams started, really. He thinks heâs been having them for a long time. But ever since he got Cas back from the Empty, theyâve been more frequent. And more vivid.
Intense.
Heat. Lips. Dark hair. Dark feathersâŚ
Dean runs a hand over his face as his heartrate slows, expecting the dream to bleed and fade away. But if he closes his eyes, he can still almost feel the solid muscle and silky feathers of two huge wings beneath him.
âI love youâ, Cas said before he died again.
âI love you too,â Dean said when he brought him back. âYou self-sacrificing sonofabitch.â
Itâs the soundtrack to his dreams now: IloveyouIloveyou.
He knows they need to talk about it. He does. Â
Heâs getting kinda sick of starting the day with a cold shower.
Dean is the only human in the whole world who wakes up cocooned lovingly in a Seraph's wings. He sleepily grips Castiel's hip and pulls him closer, warm and comfortable, and nuzzles his face into the soft feathers beneath him. They smell like Cas. The wings, now shining softly with a spectrum of rainbow colours, tighten around Dean gently - a soft slight squeeze.
Dean inches his face closer to Castiel's - already positioning himself ready to receive a kiss - but instead his lips swerve, keep going, graze Castiel's nose, and pause beside his ear. Dean, barely awake, voice like sandpaper over rocks, mumbles, "I got one of your feathers jammed up my nose again".

There is a silky softness to the curtains that hang over her roommate's windows. Between her fingertips, the sheer fabric slides carelessly through and away, falling silently to the drywall that shines a beautiful daytime blue-white.
Outside, she can see cardinals circling each other on the grass before they zip away for a fleeting moment of rest on the young branches of cedar. Free to be, free to move.
It's so pretty.
A normal life is not something Eileen has ever had or wanted, but she finds herself thinking about it often these days. What life would be like, not hunting the supernatural creatures that seek to steal from humanity? The answer comes as she thinks about the mornings she often wakes to, with eyes wide open and sweat tickling down her spine while the horrors of Hell crossfade with the relief of sunrise.
A new day exists where she reorganizes the trinkets that hang over her bed. Countlessly â a new day having been returned to her true self, as if her soul had never been plowed through, dragged into Hell, and her physical body had never been mauled to death by its hounds.
It was an ambush, she'd later learned. A specially designed attack against her senses to take her clean down. Did that man even realize then that she would be taken to Hell, of all places?
It doesn't matter. Life is full of the selfish and weak. She thinks this, as she tries to ignore the simmering fury that bubbles up her throat every day, threatening to spill over and burn her and anyone she cares about.
With a sigh, she squats down onto her bed and brushes her hand through her hair, stroking carefully near the base of her head, by her neck. She'd slept wrong again.
Soon, the hallway outside her room fills with bright light, indicating that the front door has opened.
When she stands at the entrance to offer a wave, it's Charlie's smile that brightens up the rest of the house. "Hey girl! I'm back."

I'd written this so long ago but it was also part of a chapter of an s14-15 ongoing fix-it fic that I got really delayed on..so if you are familiar with it, well then Eileen's appearance is a general spoiler so congrats for making it this far ! loll

Summary:Â
A study on Castiel and the effects of his love vs. how it impedes his desire to do penance. This is a story on the series of events of season 8 and early s9 and how this affected Cas and those around him - includes gap scenes, flashbacks/memories, relationships, and POV from other characters. Canon-adjacent, destiel.
âYouâre always healing me up after hunts, let me repay the favor for once. Besides, you took the shot meant for me in the first place. It should be me sitting there with the bullet hole.â
Cas went pale and his eyebrows drew together in a serious line. âIf it were, I would use up whatever Grace I had left to heal you.â
Oh.
Well, damn. Dean hadnât been expecting that. Cas had been avoiding him so much lately he just assumed that he didnât want to be around him anymore. But he'd⌠âUh,â he faltered, âno, that wouldnât be okay either, man. I wouldnât want that. But maybe I should teach you some basic first aid now that your mojo gets patchy sometimes.â Dean shook his head. âWe got off topic. Look, if youâd want to heal me that badly, thatâs what I want to do to you, get it?â
âI think so.â The line between Casâs eyebrows grew deeper. âIt's fine now. It barely hurts,â he clearly lied, gripping his shoulder tightly.
Dean rolled his eyes. âAlright, Black Knight.â
Cas squinted in confusion.
âThe Black Knight â ââtis but a flesh woundâ? Weâll add Monty Python to the list we-â But Dean remembered that they didnât watch movies together anymore. âDoesnât matter. Just take your damn coat off, you stubborn sonofabitch.â
That finally cracked a smile onto Casâs pale face. His lips twitched and the corners of his eyes crinkled endearingly.
It's still not finished (scream) but I bring to you, a sneak peak at part 4 of the Flustered Castiel Accidentally Explodes Lightbulbs And Causes Power Outages Especially When Dean's Fingers Are In His Hair series
The field heâd chosen was empty and wide open, with grass swaying lazily in a calm breeze, lit up brightly by the roundness of a large full moon. Almost too perfect â as all nights in Jackâs Heaven were.
But it was a great spot for what he wanted, Dean thought.
âCâmon man, Iâm already dead, this body in heaven isnât even real. Whatâs seeing your true form gonna do? Burn out my non-existent eyes?â
âIt might,â Cas rumbled. A muscle twitched in his clenched jaw.
âYouâre such a shitty liar, you know that right?â
Cas sighed and his broad shoulders slumped down into a slouch that made his trench coat look baggy and crumpled on him. His eyebrows downturned as he looked up at Dean from under his lashes and sad, sad hooded eyes. âI donâtâŚâ he started, swallowed, and tried again, âI donât want you to see me any differently. This is more me than anything else now.â
Dean scrubbed a hand over his mouth, guilt twisting in his gut â unable to resist the power of that expression. âDammit Cas, I wonât pressure you, but you know nothinâ like that is gonna bother me. So what if youâve got tentacles or a hundred eyes or whatever-â
â-I donât have tentacles,â Cas interjected.
â-Point is, youâll always be this dorky little guy to me no matter what youâve got stuffed inside,â Dean said.
Cas squinted his eyes and straightened up. âThat feels like a backhanded compliment.â
Dean laughed with enough force that his head threw backwards. He shook his head with amusement and felt himself mirroring the smile heâd finally coaxed out of Cas.
Dean reached over and patted his shoulder fondly. âYeah, yeah. Iâll keep working on being sincere.â
Green eyes met blue, and Deanâs chest warmed with the intensity of his affection.
Cas was still looking at him with a sad tilt to his eyes, but the pain had gone out of his expression. Moonlight highlighted strands of his dark hair, ruffling slightly in the breeze, and picked out the blue colour of his tie against his white shirt. It was just Cas. No matter what.
Dean took a breath and looked up at Heavenâs stars, shining in a pattern that he wondered if Jack had designed himself. Probably. The kid loved stuff like that.
âI mean it though Cas. Nothing you show meâs gonna change how I feel,â Dean said. Exactly what those feelings were, he wasnât exactly sure⌠but that was a train of thought for another day. One life changing event at a time. Dean brought his gaze back down, though he swore he could still see the stars reflected in the blue of Casâ eyes. âYouâve seen me at some of my worst, man. You literally met me in Hell.â
Cas stared with such dedicated focus, like Dean was the only thing that was worth paying attention to in the whole world, and it made pleasant sparks skitter through his veins.
But Cas said nothing in reply, he simply waited for Dean to continue, as if he was always enraptured by anything he had to say.
It was an intensity that Dean had so much affection for. So much. So freaking much-
âYou saw me as a Demon,â Dean said quickly, drowning out his thoughts before he could go to a place that he knew was coming but wasnât quite ready for tonight. âAnd you still⌠You still saved me. You still stayed with me. You still said⌠Shit, what did I even look like as a Demon? Like, my âtrue faceâ or whatever?â Dean tripped over his words as he struggled to push down his feelings. âActually, yâknow what, I donât wanna know- doesnât matter-â
âYou were beautiful,â Cas said in a warm, quiet rumble, even though his gaze was still just as intense. âYouâve always been beautiful. Even then. Youâre still just Dean Winchester, no matter what. The most beautiful soul Iâve ever encountered and ever will.â
âCasâŚâ Dean sucked in a deep breath through his teeth, while those skittering pleasant tingles across his skin increased. There was a warmth at the back of his neck and a heat blazing in his chest. He swallowed thickly, past the lump growing in his throat. âThen you know I feel about seeing Angel-You,â he eventually managed, keeping the eye contact.
Cas finally blinked and looked down at his feet. He shuffled them a little and it was such a nervous human gesture that it made Dean smile.
âClose your eyes,â Cas commanded, in a voice that reminded Dean of when they first met.
Deanâs eyebrows shot up in excitement. âSeriously? Youâre doing it?â Cas gave him a flat look and Dean held up his hands in the air in a gesture of surrender. âOkay, okay, I just- I mean, this is gonna be awesome.â
âClose your eyes, Dean.â
The commanding tone coupled with Cas saying his name certainly did something to him, but again, not the time to examine that. Dean cleared his throat and closed his eyes. Everything went dark. âThis the part where you tell me, âBe not afraidâ?â
A bright blue light shined past his eyelids and Dean shielded them with his arm, while he became aware of a shrill noise that rose higher and higher until he had to abandon his eyes for pressing his hands flat over his ears. He scrunched his face tight at the assault to his senses.
Finally, the light faded and there was silence.
âCas? You, uh- you okay there, buddy?â Dean asked, with his eyes still closed, guilt and concern churning in his gut.
-It is safe to open your eyes-
Dean winced again at the high-pitched whining that accompanied the voice, like bad feedback from a busted stereo.
-Apologies⌠It has been⌠a while since Iâve used this frequency-
The whining noise stopped mid-sentence and Dean could finally just hear the voice. Casâ voice. His true voice. It sounded like a mixture of twinkling wind chimes and a single, long, resonant note plucked on the string of a harp.
Dean flung his eyes wide open and felt his whole body lock up at the sight. âCas?â he croaked, almost unable to believe what he was looking at.
Gone was the man in the trench coat and tie, and in his place stood what looked like a giant crow â easily the size of a house. The huge crow was covered in gleaming black feathers, giving off a sparkle of blue that shimmered and glowed in the air around it, and Dean noticed that the feathers themselves, seemingly black at first, shined with an iridescent spectrum whenever they moved slightly and caught the moonlight. Its black, almost scaly legs ended in silver talons that looked like they were made from the same material as an Angel Blade, the same silver that its sharply curved beak seemed to be made of. It flashed wickedly as the crow leaned down to preen its chest feathers suddenly, like a nervous habit. When it straightened back up Deanâs attention shifted to the long, thin ring above its head â spinning slowly and blazing with a fiercely bright blue fire that cracked and popped blue embers into the night. They floated up and disappeared, past the faint outlines of many blue eyes that were suspended above the halo, blinking in and out of focus.
Finally, Dean looked at the crowâs face. Straight into two glowing blue eyes.

Characters: Benny Lafitte, Dean Winchester
Summary: Of all things Benny could find in this hell-adjacent wasteland, he stumbles right across a gem. Heâs a human - someone who is lost, himself, yet searching for something. Benny cuts him a deal.
Harsh winters, damp springs, scorching summers, desolate autumns.
How long he has survived like this, Benny doesnât even know. It seems that fate has doomed him into being eternally chased by his own kind, dead or not â on top of other monsters, as well. Being executed by the leaders of his own nest, ending up in a barren place that heâs come to learn is called âPurgatoryââŚ
Each day is another fight for survival. Sometimes heâs not even sure why he tries. Heâs so used to this place, itâs practically home â but damn, what he would give to get out of here. To go back to his homeland, back on Earth (whichever direction that may be), to go and make friends. The old bonds of brotherhood, friendship, and intimacy that he craves. And his past love.
There are few friends to make down here in Purgatory, of course. The ones that he did have, he got close to as close can get.
But in the end⌠everyone just screws you over.
They even told lies about a way out of here that only humans could get through. Call it Purgatory folklore. As if humans can enter this place, anyway.
But the more time he spends in this âafterlifeâ the more he gets invested in the idea of finding this fabled escape hatch. Heâs heard from more than one fellow monster that some humans had gotten trapped here in the past â long, long ago.
There's this really dumb season 5 era fic that I really want to write
I got this really vivid image of Dean going into Bobby's kitchen in the middle of the night because he heard a noise and he can hear the rustling of cutlery in the kitchen drawer and he's got his gun ready and he flips on the light and Cas is just standing there clutching one of those big salad forks to his chest.
And Dean is like ?? Cas????
And Cas is just staring at him like a deer in the headlights. and they just keep staring at each other cause thats what they do
And finally Dean is like Shall I leave you alone with your... fork???
But Cas is super cagey and Dean just gets more suspicious and playful about it. He manages to make it so that Cas says he 'needs a fork' and Dean is like Snort. Oh yeah. I'm sure. A good fork.
Cause yknow. fork sounds like
Anyway he manages to find out that Cas has an itch on his back that he just. can't. reach.
Which is what he needed the fork for.
Turns out that Cas is molting but the other angels are still actively hunting him so he can't go back to heaven to do it properly with real wings so he just has to suffer in his vessel with the phantom itch. Dean feels bad for him and does eventually agree to scratch his back.
Because of the intricate rituals. And that's what friends do. Friends help each other. They help their angel boy best friends during their angel wing molt thing.
So Cas is like Thank you Dean and takes off his coat and his jacket and his tie and his shirt and Dean is having a minor crisis.
He maneuvers Cas to brace his hands against the counter and Dean stands behind. He doesn't know what he's feeling but he's feeling a certain way about all of this. He starts to rake his fingers down Cas's shoulder blades and immediately Cas is like YES. THERE. HARDER. and Dean is like Jesus Cas! You'll wake the house shut up man! while trying not to show how unbelievably turned on he is
Just as the sexual tension between them really heats up Cas flies away.
And then there's a massive flash forward to present day where Dean has retired from hunting and Cas is still an angel and they're happy and alive and living together and so in love and Dean wakes up in the middle of the night because he can hear noises from the kitchen.
He goes down and flips on the light and Cas is there holding a spatula. And he's like Dean why do we not own any salad forks.
And Dean gently takes the spatula from him, kisses him, and is like Let me help you scratch that itch.
