My Modern style Bowie finally taking shape .
This beast is 12 inch long and 6mm thick high carbon with brown canvas micarta and steel and brass Loveless bolts .
Ive been carrying it around in a Molle sheath but plan to make a kydex and or leather sheath for it soon .

Snow test .
@varusteleka-fi Terava Jaakari Puukko getting some use during the recent Beast from the East storms helping to trim up snow damaged limbs .
The large rubberized handle on the Finish Puukko proved excellent when using thick snow gloves and the scandi grind made short work of the tasks it was asked to perform .
In the snow when wearing Gore -Tex over trousers I prefer to keep my sheath knife sheathed in my jacket front pocket as this certainly makes it easier / safer to re sheath with cold or gloved hands and lessens the chance of accidentally cutting expensive Gore -tex or myself .

Shhh don’t tell him but I just sorted my son his first knife for his 7th birthday which is happening in the next few days. This lovely little @morakniv Scout is a nice size, has finger guards and a rounded tip. I also got him a pair of cut resistant gloves for his ‘helping hand’ when we try a bit of whittling. Now I just need to up my own sheath knife game! Recently picked up this Schrade Little Ricky sheath knife to take care of light wood chopping and other outdoor tasks. The s thing is a beast - full tang, about a quarter inch thick, and 14 inches long. You can actually use it kind of like a hatchet owing to the machete-like blade and weight, but surprisingly, the balance point is pretty close to the end of the handle, meaning it’s not unwieldy and isn’t a bad thrower. Here are a few throws from 10-15 ft. One of the reasons I was looking for one like this is that the Imperial Rangers in #TheThirteenthHour were written to have sheath knives like this as part of their loadout in the book - big, heavy, and long for chopping, hammering, and generally abusing, but a lot of real life counterparts didn’t quite fit the bill, so I just used my imagination.
