Getting under my skin

‘It is that time again, the time where my scales get itchy and my vision goes blurry for a few days. Just like all other Serpentes every so often I shed the thin layer of skin on top of my scales. It takes a few days for a thin liquid to bubble up between the old skin and my scales and during this time the desire to itch is overwhelming- but I must wait till the skin is fully released to tear it off for if I don’t then I risk making open wounds. However, it is all well worth it as once the old skin is removed I feel brand new! A feeling that is well worth waiting through the itching phase.
