Awkward Family Photos: Paski Style! All of these are bit characters except for the kid second from the right, but I’ve been missing them, so here they are. From left to right, we have Rishi, Sona, Sheear, Upta, Dekha “Banjaree”, and Geet. This “photo” was probably taken about a decade ago, which is why the boys are in their hilariously ugly transition-to-adult-coat phases.
Because 95% of my posts are notes for myself to have later, here is a quick introduction:
Rishi Muluhai Awir: A Leader (probably about lieutenant equivalent) in the Military Police on Unity Colony. She’s a pretty typical military Raatasira female: Reserved and stern, and not super demonstrative of affection, but very loving to her family. She probably has this photo on her desk.
*As a side note, Military Police paski wear black, and are the only paski to do so.
Sona Hamamee Awir: Rishi’s tapita, which very loosely translates to husband. He can be quite short-tempered, and in this photo is barely holding himself back from strangling Upta, but he also loves his family, and is capable of great kindness. He does not like having a Spotted person in the family, and generally copes by ignoring Banjaree. Sona is a botanist.
Sheear Muluhai Awir: Rishi and Sona’s daughter. She is the dutiful, quiet child, does well in Older Children’s School, and would like to follow her mother’s footsteps and join the Military Police. She was born on Duniyaa (the paski homeworld) but they moved to Unity when she was very young, so she doesn’t remember it.
Upta Hamamee Awir: Rishi and Sona’s son, and the youngest member of the family. Upta is a total wild child and is very hard to control. They’re pretty sure it’s too much human influence. He was born on Unity, and thinks glitter and sequined dresses are humanity’s greatest gift to the galaxy.
Dekha Banjaree Keroor: Geet’s son, prefers to go by his line name. He’s not as wild as Upta, but can be found in gleeful partnership to his cousin’s antics. He has an unfortunate fashion sense and enjoys wearing as many colors as possible. He has an angry side, which comes out more as an adult.
Geet Banjaree Keroor: Rishi’s brother and Banjaree’s father. After his tapita and takula, Falan Jayarai Indra, left because she couldn’t handle having a Spotted child, his sister invited him to come live with her. Geet was always a sensitive soul, but Falan’s departure wrecked him, and he now suffers from severe anxiety and mild agoraphobia. He’s a very talented painter.
