He would, but it would more than likely take a long time of being with a partner for him to consider it. He watched his parents' marriage break down in real time, and he just doesn't want the same thing to happen to his own relationships -- not to mention all of the divorce statistics floating around in that near perfect memory. He's not opposed to it in the slightest, or course -- he wants to get married, it will just take several years of being with a partner and assuring himself of how much he loves the person how unlikely it is for that to change before he starts considering it.

I don't think he really prefers one over the other, but if you wait for him to ask you, it may or may not take a little bit longer than if you just asked him yourself. He hasn't always been the most confident person, so unless he asks you on an impulse, he's gonna sit there and try to figure out if you're interested and the probability of you saying yes. Essentially -- this guy can never get out of his own head.  The last one's been answered
