IM BABY?
I feel like I haven't gotten as much done in a year as I wanted to, but... yeah, what's new. (sweeps that thought aside with a broom) Here's to seeing what happens in the next year :)

Poll's done! honestly about what I expected but it's surprising that 1. it's that close and 2. anyone at all voted for Boy (let alone 17%).
Thanks for voting (and yes i'm aware the spread might have been pretty different if the propaganda existed from the beginning).
Periodical reminder that i read all tags and i really appreciate them! which i would assume to be obvious but nothing is obvious in this world anymore. there isn't really a way to tell people you read their tags other than this.
This goes out to the comic fury scrollers (unfortunately tumblr doesn't tell you about views, but i know the overlap is plentiful). So thank you!
You can be one of the statistics. If you want to
every now and then i think TODAY is the day i try to actually calculate oc weights. don't. do NOT. i'm not a fucking physicist and some of these assholes are like 3 meters tall. you can't even go off of Real cephalopod weights because while we have huge cephalopods that we KNOW the weights of, you can't just even use that. Because how much of that is density! These motherfuckers are just 90% hollow head! What would we ACTUALLY be looking at with human-sized-and-larger cephalopods with wildly different body composition (see: Not largely hollow), the extra muscle density and potential cartilagenous structure required to actually have an upright position, et cetera. and we have even more pressing questions like having to take into account how their tissues and body consistency would change from ocean to land. the largest cephalopod recorded to my knowledge was 3 meters in mantle length and roughly 7 more in arm length and weighed 495 kilograms (1,091 pounds).
but this is also relatively important information worldbuilding-wise because when you're dealing with larger species, youre dealing with exponentionally increasing mass. and this is low key kind of important because from a societal standpoint there's kind of a huge material and structural difference in how things are built if they have to accommodate guys that are maybe 30 kilograms on average at best, OR if they have to accommodate guys that are like. 600. if you have an elevator that's scaled to fit 10 bluerings in there, it's probably going to not accommodate even ONE guy of a large species. large fangfolk can probably break a ton fairly effortlessly and that's a Structurally Significant Amount. furniture needs to be completely different. buildings need to be different. public transit needs to be different, vehicles need to be different, so on and so forth it is NOT ENOUGH to just scale things up or down.
no one will ever think about these things. ultimately the materials of anything wont matter because when am i ever going to even draw anything relevant to this topic in enough detail for it to matter to the degree that you can identify and scrutinize the durability of the material used. Nonetheless i will keep thinking about it

Welcome to @shellsiege! This is a marine biology-centric setting somewhere between speculative biology and just anthro society. It is mostly slice-of-life with a focus on biology and my characters (there may be obvious favoritism).
PLEASE CHECK THE CONTENT WARNINGS UNDER THE CUT BEFORE ENGAGING.

one of the worst things about having not really done much oc writing save from concepting for like a year now because i've been working on getting the world and setting aspects somewhat done first is that i think it is downright unrealistic that engel would have the same haircut for this long. but if you think about it, it's probably annoying as fuck to work towards a different tentacle style when you have short tentacles because it will take months for the tentacles to grow back to full size and they will look like shit during that whole time.
Yay! milestone! I feel like i should do something to celebrate this but I don't really know what so I'll just say thank you. :D
