So the reason you can’t do the natural hair thing if you’re not black is relatively simple. I’m a black guy right? Say I grow out my hair for dreads and I walk into a place looking for a job. I could have all the qualifications in the world, but my hair will still get me dismissed as dirty and unkempt because of centuries of preference for European appearances. It’s not ancient history, it is still very much a problem. I once had a a man, a BLACK man at my church tell us that if we had cornrows or dreads we should really do something about that if we want a job. Dismissed as dirty and unkempt for letting your hair grow naturally? Surely you see the problem. And of you don’t believe me, take a look at what Giuliana Rancic had to say about Zendaya’s locs. So why can’t you, a white person, wear locs and call it natural? Won’t you receive the same dismissal? No. your hair will be dismissed as dirty and unkempt because it is ya nasty. That’s not natural for you! You cannot claim it to be honey! And what about your white girl curly hair? Look, you will not get unfairly judged for your curly hair. And if you do, it certainly will not have a racial basis. If you honestly don’t see why non-blacks can’t jump on the natural train, take your curly Annie the orphan bet your bottom dolla lookin’ happy ass and hop a train far away from me.
