The Star Wraith is a type of Plasma Wraith, which in this AU, was extinct until Shepherd became one. These wraiths are a bright-ish purple, with the basic shape of a Plasm. Though, instead of the thick nubs Plasms have, the Star Wraith has thin, long sides. They are kinda like Shepherd's little hair thing that pokes out from her bandana, but at the ends of both sides are two large and yellow stars. (Think the Undertale save point kind of stars.)
The Star Wraith can be either a lifesaver, and a hindrance when it comes to how it hunts and operates on a daily basis. For starters, Star Wraith don’t technically need to feed like every other Wraith, they gain most of their biomass and energy from strong rays of light, such as the sun. It can also come from Fluorescent lights, and some Gas Wraith Combos can work too. This has led to Fluorescent Wraiths to be a natural prey for these types of Wraiths. Though, the Star Wraith does have some downsides. For example, it needs to keep gaining and storing biomass, as if it runs out, it stops being able to move or hunt, which leaves it as easy prey for other predators. It also has “magic” but it more or less just lets it shoot off weak light rays and float a bit off the ground.
These types of Wraiths are super immune to Lumiknolls, and often hang around one at night, protecting it while gaining a frick ton of biomass from its light and the moonlight.

Erma Shepherd is the fifth member to become a Wraith, and it was 100% on accident. At this point, four crew members have suddenly just gone missing, and they fear that something is happening to them. Like Pom really did just hire some Wraiths to kill them all. Though, Erma doubts it, as the poor thing did like them. She goes out with the rest of the crew to look for them, and Pom of course. She does in fact find Pom, but since the poor guy is terrified of the crew now that he saw Yonny was DEAD and a goddamn Wraith, he runs from her.
Shepherd pursues him, and actually gets him down on the ground. Pom, panicking, pushes her off of him and he would have run away if he didn’t hear glass crack. He turns around, and realizes that he just broke her helmet. She’s scared, and freezes. Pom picks her up, trying to find the Beagle, but he can’t. She’s dying in his hands, and he decides to do the only thing that he can at this point.
Pom lays her down, apologizing profusely before turning her into a Wraith. Since he is a Mixed Wraith, it was a 50/50 on whether she was going to be one of the two Wraith’s Pom is made out of, or a new type of Wraith from the two Pom is made out of. Shepherd ends up becoming a New type of Plasma, aka the Star Wraith. This transformation does also destroy her suit, but Pom made sure to send out an SOS signal beforehand, and hoped the others would find her. They did not, as the signal was set off incorrectly. She does eventually wake up, and remembers everything that happened before. Following the advice from her father, she stays in the area, waiting for her crew to find her again.
Erma Shepherd's personality doesn't change at all. After all, her memories are still with her, and she just wants to see her crew again.
