"Guardian Angel"
Time moved really differently in Heaven. Waiting in line had felt like it had taken forever, but apparently his paperwork processed really quickly because he had barely stepped outside when a smiling man had approached him and shaken his hand. David was shocked – no one here had seemed to care about him, much less smile at him, so he smiled back and tried not to flinch when the stranger clapped him on the shoulder.
“Are you ready to get your wings?” The man asked cheerfully, in lieu of any actual greeting, as he pressed his fingertips into David’s flesh and made him cringe a little.
“Um, I guess so?” David said, confused. The guy made an exaggeratedly concerned face and David suddenly felt like he was being mocked.
“You guess so? Dude, wings are one of the best things about being an angel!”
