I still say "They are" because if you are referring to a singular individual of an unkown gender and using "they," you still treat it as a plural

my one friend uses they/them and now that i'm thinking about i so often just use "(name) is..." but i think otherwise yeah we do make it "they are..."

id say they are but i don't use they/them pronouns so I'm entirely sure
thanks guys!! i would naturally use the plural too but i saw some people using the singular so i panicked :)
